When we had "Babycat" tested for the FIV, the vet said that his blood was a little 'light'...a sign of possible anemia. She didn't have us do anything yet..just wanted to make sure that we monitor it.
I googled feline anemia and basically understand that it either is from some underlying problem or possiby could be from trauma (remember, he's missing a paw and it seemed to be from trauma vs being born with it). I also found all the symptoms of typical anemia..but he doesn't exhibit any of the symptoms. He's TOTALLY energetic and 'crazy'! But then will just crash...but remember, he is only 9 weeks old. I remember my other kitten doing that 8 years ago!
Anyway, my question that I haven't been able to find an answer for is this: Is there anything that I can be feeding "Babycat" that will help the potential anemic situation. Can I feed him red meat to boost his iron??? I don't have another vet visit for 2 more weeks when he gets more shots. Just thought I'd check in here to see if anyone has advice, website references, etc. regarding anything that I might be able to help him with.
OH..as for his diet now, he gets hard food and a weaning formula plus water.
thanks so much!!
