Question about driver's license vision test

My husband needs to get his license renewed this month. Last time he was able to renew online, but not this time. He has a question on the vision test. He wears glasses to read, but does not need the glasses for distance so he doesn't wear them when he drives. Does anyone know how the vision thing is calibrated? When you look in the machine is it calibrated for up close or distance vision? I told him just to ask before he takes the test, but that I'd ask here and see if anyone knows. We live in Georgia.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?
