Re: Question about Vermont Country Store quality

I usually buy hard to find items from Vermont Country store. Just bought the original flamingos for my yard; was unable to find the originals anywhere else.

Their customer service is the best. I had bought an cosmetic item from them that I didn't like. About a year later I finally posted a review about my negative thoughts on the product. Would you believe there was a refund for that item on my next credit card statement for the entire amount of that purchase? The operators are so friendly and will spend all the time you need to help you with your order.

The free shipping is not only available after Christmas but at many other times of the year, usually for purchases $60.00 or over.

Everything I have ever bought from them has been top quality.

Me too. If you see it in your size and you like it, grab it, especially the nighties with the discounts. I've bought several from VHS and they last forever.

I bought some Cashmere Bouquet soap and powder from them and I was disappointed - barely any scent at all.

That's because it's not the original manufacturer; they keep the name but it's someone else making it. That's true of a lot of old-time products they sell. Nothing wrong with that but a consumer should know that before they make a purchase.

Re: Question about Vermont Country Store quality

I'm in the minority here as I've been disappointed with a number of "vintage" items I've purchased from VCS. Occasionally they had free shipping so tried to do my shopping then. I found any apparel I was interested in, was sold out in my size.

As for the sleepwear, I think Eileen West and Lanz are part of the same company. A number of department stores carry EW. I've only seen Lanz in off-brand stores. The last flannel gown I bought from them was full length with long sleeves. By the end of the winter it was knee length with elbow length sleeves.

Back in the 1980's I had some great sundresses by Lanz of Salzburg.

I did not think it was still the original manufacturer but, clearly, they go very cheap on the amount of scent that is put into the product - which BTW is not inexpensive.
