Has anyone used Monistat and had a bad or very painful reaction to it? It is Saturday night and my doctor of course is not available. I am in an good amount of pain and it feels like totally on fire and my only option at this time is the ER.

Yes, I have heard of it. Wash off as much as you possibly can. Take a benadryl if you are able to.

Re: Question about Monistat.

It may be an allergic reaction. ER might be your safest bet. Take one or two Benadryl.

SIDE EFFECTS: Burning, stinging, swelling, irritation, redness, pimple-like bumps, tenderness, or flaking of the treated skin may occur. If any of these effects ...

I did both already. LOL... Seriously, this is like the worst pain but I am so embarrassed to go to the ER.

It did that to me before but it went away.

Re: Question about Monistat.

Have you used Monistat before without difficulty? It's possible that you're having a reaction to the Monistat -- or that you have another type of infection or condition (something Monistat doesn't help) which is causing pain and/or making the tissues very sore and susceptible to irritation. If you look online, you'll see reports of exactly the kind of misery you're experiencing as a reaction to this medication. Did your doctor prescribe Monistat, or did you buy a fungal remedy OTC? Surely your doctor's office has someone on call?

In the meantime, I'd take a lukewarm bath and perhaps douche with water to see if you can wash most of the product out. Yikes.

do you have some benadryl?

that might help relieve your discomfort.

Yes, I have all of these beside the last one but I just did it an hour ago. I threw out the safety pamphlet that came with it so I couldn't check on adverse reactions. I am getting dressed and going up now. How embarrassing. Seriously, it feels like I douched with boiling water and crushed glass. Sorry if that is TMI but I am in too much pain to care!!
