I'll be going to Los Angeles in mid December.  Does anyone know what the weather is typically like that time of year?  Also, how should I dress?  I have no idea what I should bring.  TIA.

@Boehm Collector    Hi.  I lived on the West Side of Los Angeles for 55 years.   I retired 7nyears ago and moved about 45 miles north but  it depends on where exactly your going to be.  If you are going to visit the actual city, weather can be very warm if we are having Santa Ana wind conditions or anywhere between 68-75 degrees.  For instance, we just had 3 very unusually hot weather in the 90s because of the dry Santa Ana winds but it's going to turn much cooler starting tomorrow with some cloudy conditions coming down from the Pacific Northwest.

I would say count on weather between 65 and 75 degrees

Casual dress is the order of the day here.  During the day a light weight jacket will suffice but it does get cold here no matter how warm it is during the day so be prepared to layer for the evenings.   If you're planning to sightsee, wear comfy shoes.  Have a great visit.   If there is anything else you need to know. Let me know

Re: Question about Los Angeles.

Bring layers.
It really depends on where you mean by “LA.” Near the coast? Farther inland? It could be anywhere between 60s-90. Lows upper 30s-50s Sunny or some rain, although in recent years our rain has been lousy and came late winter, early spring. Winds are always a possibility.

Re: Question about Los Angeles.

I have been to LA many times for work and vacations. It's a casual town. Even if it's warm during the day, temperatures drop at night.

Because LA is so spread out, you will find yourself in a car much more than in other cities. Bring car-comfortable clothes. Also, you must learn to add the word "the" before freeway numbers such as "Take the 5 north for ten miles." If you don't say "the" people will know you're from out of town. Streets that are not freeways are called surface streets. If you ask for directions somewhere, you may get asked "Do you want to use freeways or surface streets to get there?"

California pizzas are different from everywhere else. Good, but different.

You'll have a great time and wish there were more daylight hours in December.

@PickyPicky3   I have a niece who lives in LA.   I am going with my brother.  He has been there before to visit his daughter so we will use what ever means of transportation he usually takes.     I'll be in the actual city of LA.  Not familiar with the city at all..... but will be near "the"  route 405.

@Boehm Collector   the 405 freeway runs a long long way north and south but sounds like you'll be on the west side.   Just dress casual chic with a nice jacket and a warm sweater, jeans and casual pants for dress if need be.  Anything goes!  Enjoy.

Just be prepared for lots of traffic no matter where you go.  It's just a fact of life so don't let it get you down.  Leave early if you have to be somewhere at a certain time and get a traffic app and check traffic reports on any of the morning local news channels on all the major networks
