Re: Quest about Alex Murdaugh

[ Edited ]

No one who lives in the area could not have known about his 99 separate charges of financial crimes, the boat wreck with Paul driving it that killed a young woman, the death of the housekeeper, and the death of Steven Smith, a classmate of Buster's that is getting more scruntinybnow that Alex's trial is over.  This is the reason the judge allowed Alex's criminal charges on financial issues to be mentioned. Not new info for the jurors. Now there are historians combing through records, and it appears the great grandfather died under suspicious circumstances. I think it was in 1940. This family has a very long history of unexplained deaths. I am sure there are several movies being made right now...so much material for the,.

@GenXmuse   Re: change of venue. I heard a report that Alex's lawyers did focus groups all over South Carolina and everywhere the level of knowledge about the case was high. They decided it would make no difference where the trial was held.

This was pretty well shown my most National News Networks. I think a lot of people around the whole country, that follow news, heard at least a little about it. Can see why it would be pretty hard to find South Carolinians that weren't somewhat familiar with it.

Re: Question about Alex Murdaugh

I heard another juror being interviewed this morning on tv...he said if Alex had not taken the stand, they probably would have voted not to convict him on either charge. Oh, the irony!

I don't think the weapons will be found.  The Moselle property alone is 1,700 acres, much of it swampy.  There are an infinite number of places where the guns could have been sunk - and I doubt anyone wants to "drain the swamp."

As far as the timeline between "the deed" and going to Mother's:  yes, the prosecution had a pretty good idea of the timing and how it all played out.

I don't think the guns will be found either, but speaking of "sunk," maybe they should check Alex's father's casket.

I know it's macabre and quite a stretch, but I wouldn't put anything past this family.

Did they search his mother's house/property?

Re: Question about Alex Murdaugh

I have not heard any info regarding the search of his mother's home, but am assuming they did since they retraced where he went before and after the murder. I have heard it reported twice that one gun was found but they didn't give any details so not sure it really happened. The other gun being found? It will eventually be found...but maybe not for years. No reason to hide them...we all know he did it.

I saw 1 juror interviewed this morning and he didn't say the same thing. He said the phone Video/Audio at the kennels pretty much sealed the deal for him. That, and so many other lies the prosecution presented as evidence.

I think we may have seen the same juror speak. This guy was about 22, VERY well spoken, dark hair, and dark beard.

He said it was mainly the kennel video that placed Alex there plus he simply wasn't believable on ANYTHING.

This guy really impressed me, as to the reasons he gave for conviction and took us through the process this jury came to the decision. Again, this has gone along way in restoring my faith in the jury system.
