@THEY CallMe Mr Wilkes : excuse me , act of parliament with the SUPPORT of the Queen . My mistake .

The pecking order is impossible for us to understand but my assumption is that the Duke of Edinburgh supercedes the Princess Royal title which customarily can go to the Monarch's oldest daughter.

It was an Act of Parliament, not Queen Elizabeth.
Oh, thanks @THEY CallMe Mr Wilkes. That explains it. I didn't think England would be a chauvinistic country, but Princess Anne was definitely born before 2011 - LOL! So she has to come last, after her three brothers.
It also explains why Charlotte will come before Louis in succession. Originally it would have been George, Louis, and Charlotte. Now it is George, Charlotte, and Louis - their birth order.
I can't believe it took until the 2000's for them to "adjust" this! ![]()

I don't know how any of this works.
When William & Kate take over does that mean Kate would be Queen in charge if William dies? I have no clue.

No, their son George will become King.

@Nightowlz - And Kate will be known as the Queen Mother, since she would be the mother of the reigning monarch.
ETA: When William becomes the king, Camilla cannot have the title of Queen Mother, since William is not her son by birth. . .
unless Charles somehow changes that too! LOL! ![]()

Kate , if, William dies. Would rule until Prince George came of age.
Remember when King Henry 8th died his son was very young and his mother Jane Seymour had died. So Henry's son was raised by a member of the Seymour's think it was Jane's brother until he became of age and was raised Protestant.
Then Henry's son died too, poor Jane grey got in there for 9 days because she was Protestant. Then, unfortunately , the Catholic 'Bloody Mary' daughter of King Henry took over and had poor Jane Grey & her husband both beheaded. Jane never wanted to be Queen and she was forced to marry young. She got a really raw deal and refused to convert to Catholicism so their heads rolled.
Bloody Mary died of cancer and even though her half sister
was Protestant. Elizabeth I took over and let people not have to bend to be one or the other. You were free to choose. She is my favorite Queen. She died childless and no husband.
Strange, she made Mary, Queen of Scots son King when she died. She had killed his mother because then again the matter of religion came up and Mary was suspected of
wanting to take the English throne. James I of England and James VI of Scotland and a Protestant then took over.

If William as King dies before Prince George reaches 18, a Regent would be appointed and that would be Prince Harry but that would be a problem because he is resident of the US. If he choses not to return to England then, Prince Andrew would be eligible to be Regent. This is under the Regency Act of 1937.

I also read that until George reaches 18 it might fall to
Princess Royal/Anne or Edward.
Let's just hope charles lives, William lives, George comes into it in the bye and bye. Who knows George might decide like his forebears he don't want it and abdicate.
We'll all be dead. ROFL History is fascinating !

By the way Harry and Andrew would not be accepted by the public. Meghan on the throne ????????????
