Just wondering - in the "lineup" Princess Anne and Timothy are behind the new Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh (Prince Edward and Sophie). I'm sure Anne doesn't mind, but shouldn't she be before her youngest brother? Or is it all about the titles? She has worked hard for her family.

Could be that they are lined up by line of succession. Charles, William, Edward and Anne. Lots of gaps. She was the ultimate spare and should be proud of her service.

It is by line of succession excluding Harry and Andrew since they are not working Royals and do not participate in these types of events.

Before the Succession to the crown act of 2013 ; the Males were in line first . The Queen change that ,so now male and female are equal , in terms of line of succession.

@Chessa35 - That's what I thought! So since Anne is Queen Elizabeth's second child, shouldn't she be the next one in line behind her older brother and his children and grandchildren?

The 2013 Act of Succession applies to those born after October 2011.
It was an Act of Parliament, not Queen Elizabeth.
