Question About Social Security Disability

Just wondering if anyone knows if I apply for Social Security now that I'm turning 62, can I apply for SSDI also or later? I could use the money now that I am turning 62, because I can no longer work. I know that it takes a long time to get approved from SSDI. Will they let you change once you have already started getting Social Security? Thanks in advance.
