Ours too, hope it doesn't change.

Same here. My Doctor has a few who draw blood. I have been going every 3 months for 5 years for a blood draw and have never had a bad one.

@proudlyfromNJYes-same here.  I just started going every 3 months recently and so far have had the same person.  Going to a lab wouldn't be a problem in terms of distance but just more time out of the day.

Now if our PCP would put in an x-ray machine it would save oodles of $$.  An MRI would be even better.  LOL

My doctor had all that stuff, own lab, EKG machine, X-Ray machine, they did mammograms---so CONVENIENT--one stop medical......But then they said it wasn't cost effective for them so they got rid of it all Woman Sad

@Spurt  Mine has an EKG machine and it's always paid by the insurance.

I would like an x-ray because the co-pay would be almost nothing.  Once it's at a specialist, free-standing clinic, hospital-the co-pay goes up with each location.

I just had an ultra-sound and that was $75 at the free-standing clinic.

I need an MRI and I don't even want to think about the cost.  *sigh*

Yep, Cakers and costs and co-pays are ridiculous....my sister has a good job with a good salary and benefits, BUT the health insurance is lousy.....what she has to pay in insurance co-pays and doctor office visits are ridiculous.....her insurance pays well if you are hospitialized....I guess her company figured that was the most expensive and mattered the most.....

Re: Quest Diagnostics partnering with Walmart for lab testing

Years ago we had to use LabCorp with our insurance and then they changed to Quest.  Quest seems to have more locations in my area so that is a plus.   The closest Quest to me is across the road from Walmart so it would make no difference to me.

I also live in an area where we have plenty of Dr. and Dentist office's located in strip malls so that doesn't bother me as someone said it would to them.

This is the new business model.

It's sold as a convenience for you ("you're going to Walmart anyway") but it's a win for Walmart as it makes money for them since you will probably buy something while you are there.

I'm surprised 7-11 hasn't gotten in on the clinic/testing bandwagon.

I think a better partnering would be Jiffy Lube--Just imagine the marketing aspect-While your car is getting checked out.....you can also get your health checked by having your lab work done at the same time!! Woman Very Happy

Genius!

Re: Quest Diagnostics partnering with Walmart for lab testing

I avoid Walmart as much as possible.  I have 2 choices for my work pharmacy plan on the top tier: Walmart and Walgreens.

I go to Walgreens because it's never a zoon.

While Walmart may have better hours, I just want to get in and out.

Re: Quest Diagnostics partnering with Walmart for lab testing

[ Edited ]

Quest Diagnostics never stood a chance in this area.

Years before I ever retired, our local hospital received numerous complaints about the inconvenient location of the in-house lab.   When I was working, I always had outpatient orders from my doctors for my labs, and had them done in-house, since it was so convenient for me.

The large number of complaints led to the hospital setting up an additional draw station in the main building, which is far easier to get to, and was always where I had my blood draws done after my knee surgeries while I was on blood thinner.   The hospital also set up additional draw station in a central location near the majority of the medical offices to save patients from making a trip to the hospital.

Now that I'm retired, I use the lab at my doctors office, which is outsourced to LabCorp, and save that trip across town to the hospital.

The powers that be, along with the lab companies that serve our communities think they are making it easier for patients to get their testing done, by establishing draw centers in higher traffic areas, such as near popular strip malls and Wal-Mart locations.   It is wrongly assumed that everyone goes to Wal-Mart at some point!
