Yes the prices are getting too high. I have found some great deals at Penney's. They have a lot of the same type of clothing QVC sells at much lower prices. I was shocked when I went to Walmart last weekend & saw some clothing that looks like some of the high priced items selling on QVC. I didn't need anything but I looked at what they were made of & it's the same stuff! I am going to really start shopping the mall again. I know Penney's brand of St. John's Bay tee shirts are really nice. I can even order tall tops. They look just as nice as any cotton tee I've paid way too much for on QVC. Lately Isaac's tee are not holding up! They stretch out of shape quickly. I handwash all my tops due to being tall & wanting them to last.

Exactly what I've been thinking. The tee's I bought in the last few months on QVC are not holding up! Prices are up, but quality isn't. It's got to be very special for me to think about paying full price on QVC. I have found some really nice things here on clearance. The only problem is the size charts are no longer dependable. I like QVC if it's unique or I can't find something locally.

I've always been a bargain hunter and I hate paying full retail price for anything but over the past 5 years I have replaced going out to many stores with QVC orders. I try my best and am cautious with clothing which is a risk, getting the right fit, but I read TONS of customer reviews and check out the videos several times and also the garment specs.

I'm cutting back slowly and now QVC fills my inbox with at least 5 e-mails each day, promoting this and that. If I look at something or have it on my wish list, I get messages telling me to "take another look" or "these would look great on you" or "you have good taste" .....COME ON!! I don't need high pressure tactics.

I order clothing from Denim & Co, Martha Stewart, Kim Gravel, Anybody and just a few others here and there. Most prices are too high for me, so I ALWAYS look for deals but sometimes I see something that I cannot find locally and I order without the discount.

I agree....sharply raising the price without any raise in quality doesn’t make me want to purchase it. I think many buy clothing at QVC for convenience, not for value....SG has turned to ruffles, chiffon, and huge flowers....no one I know wears that and I don’t see any other place selling it....she seems to have shifted her target demographic...and I have no idea who that is but it certainly isn’t me. Some smaller prints without all the ruffles, bells, and huge florals would probably appeal to a wider audience, but the price also needs to come down out of the stratosphere.

@lovesrecess   I totally agree with everything you said here.

Speaking of SG's line, I remember when much of her line was along classic lines with fine touches one couldn't always find in B&M stores.  I don't know who her target demographic is now because I don't see young women dressing like this these days.  I do know that when her MIL was still alive and designing the line was more classic and sophisticated.

To sum it up, I can afford to pay what they're asking but I just won't do it just because I don't have to.

I agree with you on the high prices. I have not bought any tops, shorts or sweats from the Q ever. I have a Christopher and Banks outlet in my town and their clothes are top quality. I go 20 miles north and the mall has Macys and Pennys. I buy the Liz Claiborne tops on sale for around 20 dollars. Some are identical looking to the tops on the Q for 40-50. . The prices they want on the Q are just crazy. Even the clearance price is too much.

Re: QVC prices on clothing

[ Edited ]

The price of qvc clothing as caught up to most retailers. I myself prefer made in USA clothing so the places I shop have always been a bit pricey.  Now they don't seem as high as the cost of doing business overseas has risen.  The quality of clothing at macys and even nordstroms has hit bottom.  Even the top designers aren't producing quality fabrics and stitching like they used to.  Personally if you bought a tee shirt from walmart, one from target another from macys, qvc etc....the quality is about the same.  It is just some stores work on a different profit margin.  Walmart as we all know will mark prices down to below what they pay if it means outdoing another business

no one gets what they pay for anymore.   Designers often don't have any control over the quality of their merchandise anymore.  They sign a deal to have something made and thats it.  Sometimes they never see the product that has their name, until they are either hit by a lawsuit, or their name is yanked from label

Isaac and others do not make haute couture. They are good designers who have chosen a certain kind of retailing.  They seem to enjoy it.  They make normal profit I am sure.  They dont pocket all the extra money from raising prices, i am sure they hate to raise prices.  But business is business. They are paid to design and target market a group and sell to that.  When costs go up, they eat for a bit, then they raise prices. I have seen businesses eat the costs of mark ups for a long time.  Until they can no longer do business if they dont raise costs.   It is the cost of doing business overseas.  You cant have it both ways

I couldn't agree more!  Your pricing on cloths has become ridiculous!!!!!  You are pricing yourselves out of the game!  In the "old" days prices were resonable.  But now, even factoring in inflation, the prices for clothing have gotten out of control!  The quality of the cloths is not comparable to the pricing.

@Shorty2U The prices are what they are.  No one is forcing you to buy them.  Save your energy for more productive things.

I remember when the Q sold good quality.

matching seams,

facing,

hemming not surging

silks and woolens and fine cashmere.

No more, everything is cheap polyester now.

Fine for cleaning the house and going to the grocery store.

I do like the logo tops and also buy denim and co jeans and jeggings.
