Liberty Interactive just purchased HSN. Not a merger.

I just saw this in the news and had to rewind it as I wasn't sure I was hearing what I was hearing! I was just coming to the forum to start a dialog about this... And you already started a post. They said the purpose is to be more competitive with on line sales. I am shocked! I wonder how and when this will all go down and what changes we will see. I do shop on both networks but prefer QVC. I do most all of my shopping on the Q, a lot of shopping! It will be interesting to see how they merge product lines and channels. I hope a lot of people don't lose their jobs!

I just saw this, too, on NBC Nightly News and about fell off my chair!!! I have been shopping with the Q for 25 years and don't know what this is going to mean. If it means free S& H on everything, then I'm in! ha! ha! They need to get with the times! Maybe this is why the Q just hired so many newbies, because some of the oldies aren't happy about this and will be leaving? Who knows? All speculation, but I will be anxious to see how this all goes down, especially how and when!!

Wow, this is big news. It's never good for shoppers when there is less competition... 😳

Well, this is MHO about it...
To me, HSN is like a Wally World. I don't find most of their brands nearly as good as most of the brands that QVC offers. There are a few exceptions of coarse...those brands that go from one shopping channel to another....ie like Emeril (have his crab cakes on auto delivery
). Even those brands I mostly find they should stay with HSN.
QVC already took over Zulily...which I thought was like them taking over an online dollar store. From the merchandise I have viewed and only purchased from them once...and the item was junk (again, MHO)...
So QVC merged with an online Wally World-type and a dollar store-type. I'm just not impressed.
Sometimes when a company gets too big for it's britches it emplodes too. It will be interesting how this will pan out in the future.
Will hosts interchange on the shows/channels? Will they all be called QVC eventually? Or will HSN become QVC3? Or will it have a new name...QVCHSNZully? Will Zulily become QVC4 someday?
Now don't get me wrong...I am a QVC fan...just not of the latest changes. I am much more of a skeptic than optomistic of this change.
I have bought from HSN about 8 times in 15 yrs. In comparison, the other 99% has been purchased through QVC.
I'm sure there are folks who shop totally the opposite of me and who love Zulily too. Everyone is different ![]()

Parent company of QVC already owned a little over 25% of HSN...they just purchased the rest. Though I have only purchased one item from HSN, their parent company, cornerstone, also own (???) Frontgate, Ballard Designs, and improvements among others. From what I have read, the two will continue to operate independently

IMO. That explains the sinking quality.
