Yes, it is extended through the end of January; January 31 I believe. But what I want to know is when does it begin? Is it purchases from October thru December? Or September through December since they started Christmas shopping so early this year?

Only the purchases made during the Christmas In July shows are eligible for the extended returns.  Otherwise, extended returns are from September 23, as @MaverDaver wrote.
