They pick your brain with questions about this item or idea, surveys, then give you points for participating. They ask you to post pictures of your home during the holidays and what not, my mom is on it.
Focus groups. That's what that sounds like. I used to attend a couple and got paid at the end.
This one don't pay that's for sure. If you earn enough points they give you like a gift card thing that you can use on a purchase. That's about it. Mom hasn't earned enough points.
Then they are being rather cheap. This was years and years ago.
I used to do the focus groups (took a couple of hours) and got $100.00 for each time. They weren't necessarily for shopping, but for production of electronics.

I think that might be true but not for all demographics. I think thus board says something for the over 65 retired demographic. QVC might get a feeling for what they think from this board. I think sales are really the biggest marketing forecast for all the shopping channels.

@on the bay I agree with you. Unfortunately, as with most things pertaining to QVC, it seems their suits have never quite been able to figure that out...

IMO, QVC doesn't particularly think of this forum as a valuable tool. Too few actual customers post here. And it has to cost something to maintain. Not enough bang for the buck. I expect the forums won't last all that much longer but then I think the days are numbered for shopping from TV. It was a novelty once. It isn't anymore.

I agree. It is just a place for people to get together. I don't think they make much from these forums....

I work in marketing for a big company and we would NEVER use a forum like this for any kind of research. There is more that goes into research than just a little home shopping forum.

@manny2 If QVC doesn't expand their customer base to younger people, then they won't survive much longer than their current shoppers in the older age ranges. Their horrible shipping / return policy and older, more dated fashion and other products make it really hard to break into the world of millenials.
The days of ugly quacker factory, denim & company, clarks and so on are numbered if they want to still be around 10-20 years from now.

@gertrudeclosetI agree with what you said. A lot of Posters have said over the years that they don't shop here anymore. It takes money to maintain the Forums. It's not just about people posting to each other. QVC has millions of shoppers that don't even know about the Forums and they shop.
I for one have stopped watching for years but I shop a lot and if the Forums go away, I will still shop. I don't need or want to join another Forum. I have enought going on to keep me busy. Not interested in keeping in touch with anyone here.

@chrystaltree of course, and we can't blame them. It's all about sales.
I'm not one who get attach to anything so if it goes away I miss it and can't function.

@Sage04 Agree especially with your last paragraph:

I've already noticed that some very frequent posters are no longer posting here and I, for one, do not miss them---LOL!!!
