QVC Rips me off for sales tax.....again

QVC charged me $3.50 for shipping on a free shipping day. They caught it and refunded the charge. What they didn't do was refund the sales tax they charged for S&H.

I contacted CS though the app and explained and they " hung up" on me. Now I know it's only a small amount and won't kill me, but it still is not correct.

In the past, they charged me sales tax on shoes that are not taxable and would not refund my money. I had to make a request from the state and after all of that, my money was returned.

Keep an eye on your transactions. A few dollars or cents here and there adds up. Busineses should be honest and do the right thing.

Why would they just hang up on you???? Must have been a reason.

@rms1954 We were not on the phone. Was using on line chat. I stated the issue politely and asked them to refund the sales tax.

The rep just closed the window and I got the screen to rate the service. I just left it go. Losing a small amount isn't gonna break me, but it was rude.

Why would the rep do it? My guess is it was too much work to refund such a small amount and they didn't want to bother.

My husband is an accountant, he spent many years working for a PA based retailer and he knows the state tax codes well, he will fight with anyone that refunds without the sales tax to the death! LOL!! He knows that the retailer will not have to pay the tax and so the store is getting a 6% bonus.

Pet peeve of mine too. I refuse to buy any kind of supplements on SHQ, they charge tax, and here in MD we dont pay tax on supps, they wont budge, told me to contact my state govt !!!

@Carmie I never have luck with CS unless I use the SocialTeam. They have ALWAYS helped me. Try contacting them in the future.

@BalletBabe They couldn't get me my tax returned on the shoes a few years ago. Then I wrote to corporate/ president.

They sent me a letter saying the money was sent to the state and I should seek a refund from them.

SHQ has lost thousands of dollars from me throughout the years because they seem to be the only shopping channel who doesn't get that NJ doesn't pay tax on clothing. They tell me a few slip through...about half or more of my orders show they will be charging tax. I don't buy it then. Forget about getting assistance on the phone. They say they're not authorized to take it off. I have complained and written numerous times to no avail. It's absolutely ridiculous and aggravates me to no end.

They charged me sales tax on a button down blouse last year. I live in PA and there is no sales tax on clothing except on certain items which are considered "unnecessary".

One of those "unnecessary" items is swimwear. The top even though it was a long sleeved button down blouse was in the category of a bathing suit cover up. I never wore it as one but as a regular top...go figure!
