The problem with holding it is that it is a real contributor to bladder infections in women.... And cutting down on fluids is a great way to become dehydrated.

IT'S 2014!
Women carry purses, catch up with the times, businesses!
It's not just restrooms, we have a similar problem in restaurants and hair salons. I always take an inexpensive purse to get my hair done because I have to put it on the floor.
And I hate putting a nice bag on the floor of a restaurant where everyone's feet have been.

I agree, but luckily, I'm not in a hot area and it's not that easy to become dehydrated in the fog.
If I'm going somewhere where I really don't want to use the bathroom, like a doctor appointment, I'll have a large cup of tea earlier on and I won't drink more until after the appointment. I do the same when I get my hair done. Being out all day is a different story, but for sure it's not going to kill me not to drink as much as usual until after those occasions.

Hi, Noel. I was just mimicking what my urologist told me about cystitis in women. Unfortunately, I have IC so I know where every rest stop is in any state of I have been in.
I envy anyone who doesn't have to make frequent stops to public restrooms...

I don't even put my purse on the floor in the car. When I'm on a plane, I keep my purse on top of my feet. I just don't like putting my purse on the floor anywhere.

my handbags never touch the floor at my home - there is no way i would put it on the floor of a public restroom!!

I will only hang it up. NEVER put it on the floor, counter or shelf if provided. I will hold on to it and go rather than put it on top of something.

Unless I'm going somewhere that I absolutely have to carry my purse then it is left at home almost all the time...I have a card size key holder for my car keys, DL and debit card....it can fit in my pocket or I just carry it in my hand....I am no longer attached to a purse and love the freedom of never having to worry about losing it, where to put it, having it stolen, etc.

Hi serenity
I'm sorry to hear you have IC. I've always said I have a small bladder so I'm always aware of trying to control the situation.
There's a wonderful small restaurant on the coast that we love, and friends always want to go there. They have a small restroom with only one seat for women, one next door for men, and there's always a line. The wait in line is about 10 minutes, so by the time you think you have to go, it's almost too late
