How do you feel about certain criminals being under protective custody for their safety?  I read where Murdaugh was recently moved for his safety and Im wondering if you commit the crimes he did why should you be shielded from others? Same with Derek Chauvin, who killed G floyd.   hes in protective custody but I guess its because he was a cop.

@aj1980    When a person is jailed, his custodian, the city, county, state or Feds, assume responsibility for his total care including medical and otherwise keeping him safe.  There are certain prisoner who are so hated, they must be given protection for their own safety.

We are not animals who allow others to be attacked and maimed or killed.

Totally agree with you, but!  With the crimes some have committed? It's tough to not think "an eye for an eye"!

  Well I disagree with that, many times it seems people content themselves with the possibility of "prison justice," I doubt anyone was devastated when Jeffrey Dahmer met his fate.

Jeeez, my fellow posters, so many of your stated positions are thought-provoking and well-reasoned. I could see the meaningful rationale even in opposing posts. I learned from you all today and thank you for posting your thoughts.

Re: Protective Custody Bugs Me

There is a huge lack of basic humanity in our country. To even ask this question gives me chills.

Why wouldn't a prison protect all its inmates? Just because someone murdered another doesn't mean they should be murdered in prison. IMO, they deserve a long lonely life behind bars.

Even as the victim of a crime, I still would never ask for the death penalty or be ok allowing others to murder the offender in prison. One wrong does not deserve another wrong.

I don't feel they should be in protective custody, I think they should be put in general popluation and let the other's give them an attitude adjustment!

Chilling and lack of basic humanity.

What about the  Florida Teen who killed 17 students. At his victim impact hearing the cries was for him to be assualted and or killed because the jury decided he should get life instead of death.  If any case should have been a death sentence would be that one  So he will be protected from others

@aj1980  Do you agree with the Sixth Amendment  to the U. S. Constitution?

@aj1980
Nothing wrong with your post.
Some people just have no empathy for victims.
