Prompted by Today's Announcement of Closing of Forums...

what is the first thing you remember leaving or a change that happened that you miss and always felt was not the right move

I have always missed the 4 week program guide that came with a purchase

I miss being able to order an item and getting it by the estimated delivery date.

Besides the program guides, I missed the monthly  (I think) magazine that they distributed for just a few years.  It gave previews of two or three upcoming tsv's and had articles on hosts and product lines.  It was rather nicely done, but I know that printed magazines take a lot of work to maintain.  Still, I did look forward to receiving it in the mail, being an analog and not a digital type myself.

Re: Prompted by Today's Announcement of Closing of Forums...

I remember when QVC cared about customers and the shows were geared toward them.  I used to love the ones with one or two hosts, no vendors, when the host was talking to the customer.  When that changed I haven't watched much.

What I worry about is how many lonely people will be very sad when this bulletin board goes away.  People who have no family, people who have lost loved ones and can't sleep, people who are ill and can't sleep.

Companies make noise about their huge charity campaigns now, which give them PR and the CEO's get recognition and go to parties, but with all that said, companies (many I will say) care nada about individual customers, just about profits and the bottom line, and appearances.

Case in point here, I mean really how much of their budget could QVC possibly spend on this forum?  I figure they outsourced their entire computing activity and a lot of customer service, and we're getting thrown out as well.   So the piddly small server that runs this goes too.

@Sooner

That was my first thought too. There are posters who depend on the forums as their only human contact. They may have outlived family and friends so they come here to share poster's good news and can relate to the disappointment s, loses of fellow posters. Likely they aren't prolific buyers, but good will is priceless.

@Sooner, you make a great point. The amount of goodwill that QVC generated from this Forum had to be immense. How many of us have mentioned to family or friends specific things we learned or heard here. And no matter how irritated any of us might have been about a specific product or transaction with the Q, I bet most of us still (if asked) would have said how much we relied on the Forums because of the support and friendships we have - that kind of positive word of mouth (and gut feelings) is immeasurable for any company!

I can't for the life of me figure out what the Q hopes to accomplish or save ($$) by eliminating this venue, but I can almost guarantee that many of us will no longer have the same warm and fuzzy feelings we had prior to this change. My own image of the Q as a company committed to their keeping their customers happy is tarnished and won't be the same going forward.

Perhaps a little legwork (Forum surveys and/or focus groups) would have provided some significant feedback for Q management to digest.

@jannabelle1 I have a suspicion from something I read not long ago that QVC outsourced their computing or moved to another company for computing.  So I guess they are booting us as part of that deal.  Probably letting go of most or all their IT people and the moderators probably are going too.
