Project Runway - finale part I

I enjoyed Tim's visits.

Despite the judges critics, I think.....

Char's collection is awful

Sean's collection has too much fringe

Amanda's collection is the same old

Kini's collection is the best but hated the hair and make-up

You can see the full collections online as well as the other 5 designers that showed their collections.

I'm rooting for Kini or Sean.

I am a bit confused. Do the designers that have been sent home already also show?

I never knew that, kind of makes it odd for me since they get to show anyway.

They do but are not eligible to win. Fashion week was early September. This year (I think) there were 9 designers who showed.

lulu, I don't know how you feel-- but one of the biggest draws for the contestants is to get to show at Fashion Week, so it just sort of "bothers" (and when I say bothers, it is NOT that big of a deal, IRL) that the eliminated contestants get to show too.

The showing is the big for the final contestants!

I hope kini pulls a rabbit out of the hat and wins. Cannot see why the judges are so gaga over Amanda. If kini doesn't win, I'd like to see Char win.

They've always had decoys at Fashion Week. This year FW was the first week in Sept and the competition began during the summer. I do not recall any other season where there were this many decoys.

While I'm sure it is every designer's dream to show at FW, here the prize is worth $300,000. It's almost as if there were 3 levels. The first level gets a stipend for participating in PR, the next gets to show a collection, and the final level gets to show and compete for the final prize.

I liked Kinis designs mostly all season until this show. I agree with the judges that the designs look like old ladies (although I admire the pleating and design work). So I HOPE he cleans them up and wins!

Had Kinis models not looked like evil hateful people his clothes would have had a totally different look. He is amazing and I am sure he will be able to turn out some wonderful designs. I think the make up people this time are less than stellar.

Re: Project Runway - finale part I

I have been a fan of Kini's all season, but the 3 looks he showed were a bit disappointing. The dress/coat was fantastic, but, to me, it seemed to overwhelm the model, it just looked HUGE on her. I also was not a fan of the skirt with the tight belt below the hips. I did think the judges were really tough on him, but hopefully he can get over the initial disappointment and get out a 2-3 other pieces.

Sean's pieces were good, but I hope he doesn't have any other fringed pieces. I like fringe, A LOT, but I am tired of seeing the same kind of fringe over and over. There are a lot of different ways to do fringe, but he keeps doing the same way over and over. I did like his white dress and the crop top/skirt, but I was bored with the fringe on the jumpsuit. He has a great story for his line too. I am curious to see the other pieces for sure!

I like Char's b/w dress, that was cute, but the piece made from the material from Italy - I thought the shorts were a little short, but maybe that style is back? The judges didn't say anything about it. I like her dress with the bow, I didn't understand what Zac said about it so I need to find out what his objection was. We know she has some interesting pieces (like that turquoise dress) so I am definitely interested in seeing her whole collection.

I know many people don't like Amanda, but I really do. I liked all three of her pieces and could see them selling immediately, but, like Sean's fringe, she has to stop with all the maxi-dresses. Hopefully she will fix the one and the other two will be the only maxis in her show, though she really has a gift for designing them. Her material and color choices are always good.

As far as who wins, I think everyone, except Char, deserves it. They all were excellent for the whole season. This is the first time I have felt this way, I am usually rooting for one designer at this point, but I really like Kini, Amanda and Sean. I like Char too, but I don't think she is quite at the same level as the other three. Should be a great finale!!
