We don't know that he didn't. I believe Tim is consulted during the judging and gives his insights to the judges. He may even review some of the behaviour during the designing/sewing and may make his perceptions known. He is there for a reason. We don't necessarily see everything that goes on off camera.
Thats' a good point and I actually considered that possibility. I just seemed to me that anyone editing this material would have included those comments. After all, the editors are the ones who are framing the conversation that nudges us towards certain conclusions.
I've read about reality shows that essentially mislead you to ramp up the intensity, but I've never gotten the feeling that Project Runway follows this model. Sure they heighten the impact of discord, but I don't think that intentional misdirection is part of their tool kit.
And Tim Gunn has a lot of credibility. I can't imagine that he would allow this sort of misdirection of how he conducts himself. -- That said, it still could have been poor editing. And if that's the case I think that someone will catch it from Tim.
And, if I found out that the editors were taking this approach, I'd stop watching in a New York minute.

I really disliked Hanmaio! I'm Sooooo glad she's gone. Edmond is my favorite. I thought he was more than fair with her.....and I believe he is an excellent designer. I never understood how Hanmaio even made it on the show.

I think she had some interesting avant garde designs, but she just doesn't play well or strategically with others. -- And when things don't go her way she just goes into meltdown mode. On her own, with more time and less pressure she'd probably be fine, but I think the pressure of this game gets to a number of the contestants.
That said, I'm soooo glad she's gone. She was way out of line for the entire challenge. I also really like Edmond.

Who knew women could have a female version of short man syndrome. Edmond should get an award.
