An aside, please -- we all need to remember that use by dates are for unopened packages of any food. Once you open anything - soup, cheese, meat, whatever, you introduce all kinds of contaminants from the air in your house or you allow anything in the container already to grow. A few days is usually all you get befoire there's a problem.
Thanks. It was probably only six or seven days. I don't see anything on the package about how long it can stay in the fridge, but I'm throwing it away anyway, even though the unopened pkg has a shelf date of 2016, but of course that's before opening. That was the first time I tried it in a box, and the last as well, LOL!

I've thrown out so many opened broth boxes that I now only buy broth in smaller cans that can be used up as soon as they're opened.
I've also experienced the fish skin-like substance in an opened box of refrigerated chicken broth after a few days. I now buy the smaller cans of Swanson's low-sodium chicken broth to avoid this problem.

What the heck would fish skin be doing in chicken broth? If anything, I would have thought it was chicken skin.
Anyway........... we found a used bandaid in a loaf of bread once. Looked like it was baked right in. That was many years ago. I don't recall being bothered with nasty letters; just threw the bread out. It was really gross but hey, stuff happens.

OMG, you did experience this also? What did you do, if anything? I myself would never buy this product again! I found it disgusting.

I chalked it up to leaving the opened broth in the fridge for too long, threw it out, and only buy the smaller cans thereafter.

I have used boxes of Swanson Organic Vegetable Broth. I noticed on the box a use by date, before opening, promptly refrigerate unused broth and use within 14 days after opening. On the box is a 800 # for questions and comments, asked to have code and date information from container,I would call them, just to make them aware. I'm sorry you had this experience. HTH

I used to be in the same position until the light bulb went off and I started either freezing the leftover broth into cubes or put it in a container to freeze.

I was going to suggest freezing, also.
I bought an inexpensive larger ice cube tray just for that purpose. Each "cube" holds 1/2 cup of liquid. Easy to defrost just enough cubes for whatever amount the recipe calls for.

I really like this idea and will buy an ice cube tray for this purpose, Thanks Lion!
