She looked much better the night before at that Remembrance event.   Like so many of us if we do not sleep well or at all one night the next day we look extremely tired. 

She also lost family in the war.

I don’t think Kate could ever look old or haggard. Even though she has help with the kids and I am sure she is not cleaning her toilets or vacuuming her carpets, I am sure her work can be very tiring.

The picture of Kate taken with her eyes closed was probably taken during the moment of silence on Remembrance Day. This being a solemn occasions those on the balcony are usually not smiling and looking happy. Sophie also looks very solemn.

Of course you are exactly right, @50Mickey .   Whenever the royal family participate in Remembrance Day events, they are acutely aware of what they are honoring, and often their expressions align with the somber nature of the occasion.

I thought that the picture of Kate praying or observing a moment of silence, had an austere beauty.  So much could be read into that very private expression, the expression of someone thinking serious thoughts, or remembering suffering.  Very fascinating glimpse.
