She was beautiful and I will always think of her as Princess Diana....the "People's Princess"

My goodness, weren't there a lot of bodyguards around?  This sounds fishy.

She had given up her security detail when her divorce became final as shown by the fact that she did not have a security detail with her six months later when she was killed in the car crash.

Also, perhaps she may have had some security with her when she was in London and they were discreetely following her at a bit of a distance.

Obviously just conjecture on my part.

What a wonderful memory I'm sure he holds close.
I agree she had her security stripped away after her divorce. The monarchy didn't give a rip she was the Mother of a future King of England. Car accident wouldn't have happened if she had the security she so deserved.

I'll never forget her genuine smile.

Especially when around children.

(Not too fond of the new-ish bronze statue, standing with children .... without her smile.)

Well, her smile is in many of our memories......

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

She was as beautiful inside as she was outside, kind of a rare thing nowadays.

I think her son William has the exact same smile...something of her still here.

According to her long-time butler Paul Burrell she had turned down offers of security from the queen because she was afraid of the palace spying on her. He obviously thought that was a mistake, because palace security guards would never have allowed her to get in a car driven by a drunk hotel manager.

She had requested in her divorce money to hire her own private security detail. The royal family turned her down, insisting that she use palace security. She didn't want that.

The body guard with her in the car when she died was a private security guard she had hired herself.

The title being taken away I think was because after she divorced Charles she was not thereafter an official spokesperson for the Crown.  And from that aspect it makes sense.  She could go and do what she wanted as Diana, with no bearing on the Royal stance on issues.

I think she would have gone out without a ton of security, or obvious security.  Why not?  Probably safer that way.  Do you really look at people out casually?

And no longer a working royal, she could not have security.  You only need it if you put yourself in that position for the most part.  Publish your schedule, and people know where to come after you.

She frequently called the paprazzi to let them know her whereabouts to antagonize Prince Charles. It was said by friends that, near the time of her demise, she had wanted to get back with him and letting the paparazzi know where she was going and with whom was like the low cut dress she wore. May God rest her soul.  She was a lovely woman and I've no doubt she probably grew to love Charles and wanted them to be a nuclear family.
