I think she would have gone out without a ton of security, or obvious security.  Why not?  Probably safer that way.  Do you really look at people out casually?  

 

And no longer a working royal, she could not have security.  You only need it if you put yourself in that position for the most part.  Publish your schedule, and people know where to come after you.

She may not have been a Princess then.  

She was stripped of her title and the perks.

She resorted to being Lady Diana.
