The first close up photo should have gone into file-13. Not published.
We don't know what she was thinking, but she looks tired, even sad. It's no wonder why she tries so hard to control her public appearances. This photographer had to know better. Thankfully, she's a strikingly beautiful, elegant lady, even when not looking her best.
Her life is hard work, not an enviable role. Always wish her health and happiness.

I highly doubt that statistic, @occasionalrain.

She's through with chemotherapy. They haven't sent me her medical records so I really can't tell you the state of her recovery.

Most recent public opinion polls indicate that 10-15% of the British favor abolishing the Monarchy.
A larger percentage are indifferent and a majority (not 99%!) support it.

That property should have been handed over, or leased for $1.
Kate is beautiful and always has been. I loved Diana. I love her children, But it's time to embrace the 21st century and give back what you've taken. Or at least don't profit from it so you can continue a lifestyle you were lucky enough to be born or married into.
I am not saying the royals should have jobs in the private sector- they do perform their duties, ceremonial as they are. But millions of pounds? Really?
ETA: The BBC has a very good article on this, worth the read. But YouTube is running the actual documentary produced by Channel 4 News if you have the time to watch.
@Lakelife62 I'm an American so none of that matters to me.

Shame on the photographer? Why? It was a "real" moment.
Everywhere they go, the royals are photographed, and the hundreds of photos are sorted through to find the "best" photo.
The royals are always aware of the photogs around them and always play to the cameras. Good PR for the royals, which they seem to need more of these days.
Heaven forbid they lose any of the income streams!

The parents of the murdered children were telling her and Prince William about their loss and devestation.

@Lakelife62 I actually agree with you. I also think the whole idea of Royalty is so outdated and kind of a form of class warfare. But the Britts love their royalty. Just think if the royal family sold the land and gave the money back to all the charities and schools and hospitals. Think about what good they could do then. They could potentially lessen a lot of the problems they are having. It is a bit ironic. They are going to take millions of pounds from their people every year, then turn around and visit them and say hello and maybe make a speach or two. I am sure they give them money too, but still...... And I don't buy the whole argument that they add to the economy in the form of selling cheap junk and tourism as a reason to keep this farce going.
Many have bought into how "important" the royals are for tourism, but I don't buy into it, either. There's never been a time (in modern times) without the royals so there's nothing to compare the tourism dollars with and without them.
I've been to England four times and never did I think I'd see the royals ... or, what? ..... they would invite me in for lunch?
They have a good thing going and are not going to stop the gravy train. They take with one hand and give back some of it with the other hand.
Yes, the Brits love the pomp and silliness, but it's just theater to distract them from more important issues that should be addressed. It creates a diversion.

There's a reason that the British Monarchy is covered worldwide. A reason their weddings, funerals, births...are broadcast by major news organizations from beginning until end, preempting regular programming.
No other country's Royals are followed, not even Monaco is in the news daily. If the public weren't interested, thought their ceremonies were silly, thought they should be eliminated news organizations wouldn't invest in covering them..
