Oh, and William has a day job and both boys served in the military for a significant time.

Yes, I did read their "duties" .......   and have also read a great deal more about the royals.   I never disputed that.

Nevertheless, a lot of the things they do boil down to  making appearances, waving to people, and other "busy work" that could easily end tomorrow .....  or be taken over by civil servants.

I'm glad Harry and William served in the military.   At least that was real training and real work.    Up until her death, I think Diana did a wonderful job raising her boys.

I saw him in the market in the frozen foods section.

We were reaching for the same bag of fries and I whispered don't worry I won't tell them who you are.Smiley Very Happy

Evidently not @Pearlee  She's been supporting him and telling him to take his time making decisions as to what the wants.

@Noel7      She scolded him for revealing too much about his feelings lately.

Besides, what you described is a lot different than what he stated.  Making decisions privately and blabbing in public is quite different.  And what he said would, I think, make some Britains who pay taxes that help support the royal family call to end it.

You are comparing apples and oranges.

@Pearlee

Oh?   Were you there when the queen was scolding Harry .... or are you such good friends with the queen that she tells you everything?   lol

If Harry got married and settled down to having a family and a job no one would give a hoot about him anymore.Just like Charles' brothers- who pays any attention to them?

The Queen's role in Government

As Head of State The Queen has to remain strictly neutral with respect to political matters, unable to vote or stand for election, however Her Majesty does have important ceremonial and formal roles in relation to the government of the UK.

The formal phrase 'Queen in Parliament' is used to describe the British legislature, which consists of the Sovereign, the House of Lords and the House of Commons. The Queen's duties include opening each new session of Parliament, granting Royal Assent to legislation, and approving Orders and Proclamations through the Privy Council.

The Queen also has a special relationship with the Prime Minister, retaining the right to appoint and also meeting with him or her on a regular basis.

In addition to playing a specific role in the UK Parliament based in London, The Queen has formal roles with relation to the devolved assemblies of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

I don't think that would be the case because of who his mother was, not the rest of the Royal Family.  Diana was and still is beloved in the UK.  Simple as that.

Re: Prince Harry says no one wants the "Throne."

Now this may seem like a mean comment to make, but, I personally feel like the Queen needs to step down and let the next person step up to the job. She owes it to her Son. I think she is one of those people who feel no one else can do the job as good as she can. It is all pomp and circumstance anyway, the Queen really does nothing.  She should retire.
