What is wrong with a few hours away from home? I am sure he will be with other children his age. The comments he is too young are unsubstantiated. Too young for what? Socializing without having his mum or nanny there? He might just enjoy this new adventure.

Is the future king going full-time or a few hours each day? If George didn't care for it, he would be home or they would find a better preschool.

Cute photo! Yes, it's time for him to socialize with other kids his age. I hope he has lots of fun!

Hi missy, pre-school is usually two or three times a week for just a couple of hours, not all day.

Putting a child in preschool is very much of a personal, family decision based on need, reasons, resources, current situation and planning for the future. As I stated before, personal experiences very much influence personal opinions! There is no one answer for all families -- I always taught -- evaluate what is best for your child and your family and then act on decision!

I agree.

When I think back to Princess Diana's trips with her sons to visit charities, locations and various people, I can see why this is a good thing.
Little Georgie needs to have a "normal" childhood, BUT he also needs to have exposure to a wide variety of circumstances. Starting with something as innocuous as other children in a pre school situation is the obvious way to start.

Little George looks mature for his age in that photo with his backpack. I'll bet he will do just fine.
We have a little girl in our family about the same age and a sister just a little older. The family moved to Europe recently for extended education and the girls are adapting well to the pre-school there and learning a second language.
It's amazing what kids can do and learn, and I agree with @Tinkrbl44 that the the more they are out and about, the better. As long as they are loved and taken care of, they can learn so much that will prepare them for the years ahead.

As I mentioned in my post, they are probably doing what they consider to be "the norm" for their family, and they probably do have to keep security in mind for the little Prince, as well.
There are other ways to socialize little children. Not everyone decides to put a young child in Preschool or Day Care.
When I worked with Preschoolers, some parents didn't have a choice regarding whether or not their child should be in a Preschool, as they needed to work and so their children were in a Preschool program.
Some families will use church groups or Mom play dates or other social groups, to socialize their children.
Some Moms used to teach and will supplement their own home activities with other social groups/play dates.
I live in a neighborhood where there are usually children who live around here, and they usually have friends around. It's nice to see that. They play outside when the weather is nice.

I doubt there are other young children at Kensingston. I salute them and Diana as well for allowing their children to be treated normally and experiencing a somewhat normal childhood.
@Lila Belle Perhaps not, but the Cambridges' primary residence is Anmer Hall in Norfolk where the school is.
