Thank you for the article!
Too many people underestimate young children and that they have incredible minds. Keeping them at home, often in front of a television, is only going to stifle them.
No one said anything about keeping them home in front of a television.

No one said anyone here said that.

Weak response to support her position. Nothing else to offer.

No one said anyone here said that. Try to stick to what actually happened instead of always looking for a reason to get in a shot at someone.

As I mentioned in my post, they are probably doing what they consider to be "the norm" for their family, and they probably do have to keep security in mind for the little Prince, as well.
There are other ways to socialize little children. Not everyone decides to put a young child in Preschool or Day Care.
When I worked with Preschoolers, some parents didn't have a choice regarding whether or not their child should be in a Preschool, as they needed to work and so their children were in a Preschool program.
Some families will use church groups or Mom play dates or other social groups, to socialize their children.
Some Moms used to teach and will supplement their own home activities with other social groups/play dates.
I live in a neighborhood where there are usually children who live around here, and they usually have friends around. It's nice to see that. They play outside when the weather is nice.

I doubt there are other young children at Kensingston. I salute them and Diana as well for allowing their children to be treated normally and experiencing a somewhat normal childhood.
I don't disagree. I'm sorry if I'm giving that opinion.
I'm just saying that there are other options for socializing young children, that maybe others don't realize are out there. ![]()
I'm sure that the royal family also has to consider safety and security for the young Prince, too, as to where it is safe and secure to take him. ![]()

@muttmom wrote:Just as others here, I am entitled to my opinion. I am a mother of 2 and the grandmother of 4. Both our children and the 3 oldest grandchildren went to pre school. I do know more than a little about early childhood education. I could site reasons based on personal experience, why I feel 2 1/2 is too young for school. I merely stated my opinion and am not trying to convince others to share that opinion.
"You could cite reasons" ..... but you didn't.
It would have been interesting to know why you object to pre-school for young ones.
Assuming that the monarchy is still in existence when George is of age, he will have a rather regimented life, so a little bit of a schedule is a good thing. Kate and William said they want their kids to have a "normal" life, so good for them.
I gave my opinion on a subject. It was never my intention to change the mind of others so did not think it was necessary to CITE ( and yes, I did use SITE instead of CITE) personal reasons.
Please don't feel defensive .... it's just that you seem to feel strongly about not putting a 2 1/2 year old in pre school .... it would be interesting to know why you feel strongly about it. What happened to cause you to come to that conclusion?

Adorable, though.
I agree. I guess they don't want to coddle him. I watched my grandson when he was 3 and there were times when I wished he could have more children to play with. It was kind of lonely for him. So maybe that's the reason they're sending him so early - to have playmates.

Socialization, little minds are like sponges & they can absorb so very much. Playmates, maybe a few friends for life. I think it's great Prince George is off to school. I mean it's not like they sent him off to boarding school and only visited once a year.

Personally I think 2.5 is young. It also seems like an odd time of the year to be starting school.
I have a nephew whose 2 oldest children are about 18 months apart. The older one was extremely jealous when his new baby sister arrived. They decided to send him to pre school when he was about the same age as Prince George. It was a disaster. This little guy had been the center of the universe. Now there was a new baby and they were sending him to school. The school psychologist said even at his young age, he felt his parents were trying to get rid of him. It took a long time for him to not resent his younger sister. Then a third child with special needs came along and opened another can of worms.
As for allowing a 3 year old to go to over night camp. I would NEVER (enough said)
There have been rumors for weeks that the Duchess is pregnant with number 3.

Putting a child in preschool is very much of a personal, family decision based on need, reasons, resources, current situation and planning for the future. As I stated before, personal experiences very much influence personal opinions! There is no one answer for all families -- I always taught -- evaluate what is best for your child and your family and then act on decision!
