Many mothers don't do happy birthday wishes on social media for their children. She's using her clout to his advantage and that makes me lose respect for her. He is what he is because of how he was raised and how he's been tolerated, and she is responsible for that. I think a good mother would help a child work through mistakes rather than encourage to avoid or cover up.

@wildcat fan   I agree with your comments.  However, there are a few more ‘family’ and social events coming up and it will be interesting to see - over time - how they are handled a la Andrew.

Venezia. You are absolutely right. Edward VII, Victoria's oldest son was the grandfather, not the father...and HE WAS the womanizer. I couldn't edit my mistake, so here is my correction.

@Vivian- I was just talking to my DH (British) about this topic today and said that I thought you were talking about Victoria's son.  He was also thought to have had dyslexia, which accounted for his not reading well but, of course, that wasn't known then.

Savvy a woman as the queen is, perhaps she believes Andrew's version of things and his denials. She is, after all his mother. That would explain why she is celebratory about his birthday.

I'm not an Andrew fan at all (as I have previously stated) but in fairness, the royal family wishes all of its family members a happy birthday on Instagram. I think not doing so for A would look like something was fishy.

Thanks for sharing @faeriemoon .  I don't follow or look up their social media accounts. I'm just really disappointed with the way Andrew has acted, and this has been long before the recent revelations.  I'm also disappointed with the way the Queen has handled it.

@wildcat fan  She will not be disowning him. The Royal family through the past many hundreds of years has had men that have acted and lived in awful ways. Besides that there have been other types of scandals. She is used to it.

Good point @proudlyfromNJ I can't imagine any mother disowning her child.  I just find the behavior of some of the royals to be unsettling, if not disgusting, at times.  In modern times, I think there can be more accountability.  Although the queen may be used to it, I think these scandals make her look bad.  I think she's in a position to stop a lot of it, but apparently she's choosing not to.  So glad I'm not a taxpayer there.
