Consider yourself lucky. Everything you purchase here and subsciptions are taxed 10%. Food, groceries, etc., etc., etc. You name it, we are taxed 10% no matter what. We pay $128.50 for Amazon Prime. Of course, people who get EBT, i.e. foodstamps and/or section 8 housing and/or Medicaid, and/or other freebies, pay little or nothing for Amazon Prime.

@Silver Lining  Doesn't Amazon charge you the same percentage tax that you'd pay if you purchased an item at a store in your town?  Our local sales tax is 7%, and I thought Amazon charges us the same.

it is state specific.  lower income people don't free prime membership either.  They are just allowed to use EBT for food purchases on amazon.

The lower income people who have an EBT card are eligible for greatly discounted  Amazon Prime membership.. They can't use their card for goods and services but they get free two-day delivery for things they actually pay for. They also get free access to Amazon Prime videos. They are getting a lot of free perks for practically nothing if they are already on food stamps.

It is not FREE.  No it's not free @Silver Lining .

We could say the same thing about College Students. Don't they get a discount also? Why shouldn't EBT holders and others get the same?

@Teddixat  is it $127 because of the tax?  I'm in Georgia and ours was $119 for renewal just a few days ago.
