@Spurt Don't forget Sprouts. I only shop there for my Spice Hunter brand-can't find it anywhere else. I was never impressed with Sprouts from the time is was under another name-can't think of it.
H-E-B is getting too over the top with that lousy Hill Fare brand or Hill Country whatever it is.
Wal-Mart is a once in a blue moon trip but I've noticed that their Great Value brand is also taking over brand names.
Whole Foods was fine until Amazon took over; their 365 brand was often cheaper than H-E-B. Even some organics.
I comparison shopped big time when we moved here and eventually stayed with Whole Foods; Trader Joe's has gone downhill, imo.

I just heard on the news that they are going to have to charge a lot more for cans due to the tarrif on aluminum. So anything that comes in cans will go up considerably. Beer - pop - soup - canned tomatoes. Geez , even spaghetti will cost more to make. Many items just based on that one thing.
Not to mention Ford trucks.

I've been a member of Costco for 23 years - and do my main shopping - just for me. Just using their great coupons that they mail monthly - pays the cost of the membership. Plus, I recently received a check for $57. from them -- for using my Costco Citibank card. I also order quite a bit on-line --- so convenient.
Last year I purchased 2 Samsung flat screen tv's --- at very low prices!!!!
I just received my beautiful grey/brown leather loveseat which I ordered on-line.
Any problems, Costco stands behind all their products --- plus u get a 2-year warranty on all electronics/appliances.

There's a Giant Food about a mile away from my house and I too noticed rising prices. There is an Aldis and a Lidls both within a mile from the Giant and I'm seeing more crowded parking lots in those two and I'm going there more and more. For those that haven't heard of them - Lidl's is a german grocery chain and it's setup is much like Aldis. It even has the two or three aisles of clothes, small appliances, etc. .
The articles on Lidls say it's considered to be like a cross between Aldi and Trader Jo's. Many of the labels look like knockoffs of the real thing - for example, I buy their coffee and I think I just paid $3.59 for 12 oz bags and they look very similar to Starbucks bags - it's like a starburst with no face if that makes sense and the coffee is pretty good. Giant brand flavored water I like is 60 cents a bottle and off brand is 35 cents at Lidls. Their fruits/veggies at Lidls are better bc they are cheaper they don't sit long enough to rot or begin to spoil.

Many of the cans you just mentioned are steel. America does have steel and aluninum plants. Americans do recycle aluminum cans, I would imagine they will just use that to make more. The tarrif shouldn't raise anything here at home.

The tariffs absolutely will result in higher prices, you can't protect one industry and ignore the ways in which it impacts other industries and products.

I RARELY buy any groceries at Walmart, in fact for other kinds of shopping I go there as a last resort .....I prefer Target....
