@SahmIam

I just renewed our Costco - we are Gold Star members and it was $64 including tax.

Yep...salaries are going up so everyone is taking advantage of that.

Also, increase in minimum wage has caused things to go up as well. I went to Mod Pizza and noticed a $1 increase and was told it was due to minimum wage going up. I went to my favorite local coffee shop and my 16 oz latte is now over $6 when it was $3.75! They said it was due to increased minimum wage but they also wanted to give an equal increase for those employees already making over minimum wage. Well, that’s nice but now I will only purchase one on a special occasion. I just simply can not justify that price for coffee. I’m learning to make the same thing at home for much less. Almost have it perfected!

@ValentinaBon, good for you!  I used to enjoy buying coffee on the way to exercise. It was my reward to myself for working out. Since I weaned myself off of flavored creamers I only drink regular coffee with milk now so it didn’t really take long to combine 2 different beans, grind them and make my own fresh coffee. Wouldn’t have done it but prices kept rising.  It’s cheaper to make my own and it’s always fresh. 😊

@CelticCrafter  That's VERY interesting because I"m looking at my form to renew (which was 3 weeks ago) and the cost is $125.

Makes me wonder if Costco charges more or less depending on where you live. Geez. Smiley Sad

Yes everything is expensive and rising higher. We will learn to make do,use up,and bargain hunt to a greater degree..

I think most people will start cutting back 9n a few luxuries.

Re: Prices of just about everything

I was an ALDI shopper but take note, they are increasing some of their prices and also altering - and cheapening - the ingredients in their products. I liked their Pumpkin Flax granola. All their "orgnanic"  granolas  now have Tapioca Syrup as the second ingredient. When I hit $80 for a food bill - without much chicken or meat - from them I decided to cut back.. I believe they charge higher prices in resort areas (where I live).

I have neighbors who are from WAfrica. The other day we were talking about how much things cost and one of them said that they just couldn't believe how expensive everything is here and how much (you) Americans have to spend on the simplest things.

@SahmIam - check the website - it showing $60 for the Gold Membership and $120 for the Executive Gold.

Re: Prices of just about everything

@CelticCrafter Geez, I'm an idiot. It's the EXECUTIVE Gold NOT the Gold. All this time, since the card is gold and black, I've called it the GOLD membership and the other one (which is red and white I think), just THE membership.

With tax it's $125 (give or take a few pennies).

Thank you to Celtic Crafter for pointing out my massive brain fart on that one!!!!!!  : )

BTW, we're going to go with the basic one this time. Doing the math, I don't purchase enough to make the Executive one worth it now that it costs so much.

Re: Prices of just about everything

Whole Foods was fine until Amazon took over.  I found the 365 brand was always very competitive with the only other grocery chain here; even some organics were cheaper.

Now the canned veggies, e.g., have jumped to $1.49/can.  We were switching to frozen but now those have gone up the same way.

It's frustrating.
