Pretty Woman - you're the casting director

This is one of my favorite movies.

Before Julia, the part of Vivian was offered to Molly Ringwald, who turned it down because of the subject matter. She now says it was the biggest mistake of her professional career. Others considered were Heather Locklear, Daryl Hannah, Sandra Bullock, Winona Ryder, Meg Ryan, Justine Bateman, and Sharon Stone.

Before Richard, those considered for or offered the part of Edward were John Travolta, Burt Reynolds, Sylvester Stallone, Dennis Quaid, Albert Brooks, Daniel Day-Lewis, and Al Pacino.

So - I know it's sacrilege, but if someone else had said yes to each of these parts, what do you think?

The two I'm thinking about for Vivian are Heather Locklear and Justine Bateman.

For Edward, I'd go with Dennis Quaid.

I could see Justine Bateman or Sandra Bullock. I could see the younger John Travalta as Edward. Dennis Quaid would be a good choice too.

I don't think any of the other ones mentioned could have done half the job that Julia Roberts and Richard Gere did.

Nor do I.

Molly Ringwood playing a hooker? She was type cast as a John Hughes sweetheart. John Travolta a wheeler dealer? Earlier in his career, he too pretty much always played the same character. No way.

Not to change the subject, but did you know that the lead actor on Grey's Anatomy was offered to Rob Lowe before it was offered to Patrick Dempsey? {#emotions_dlg.unsure}
