dear predsHeart  and friendsHeart

Decided to start washing new haul of sherpa tops, put into my washer and started washer up, then walked to window on west side wall in basement to open   small sliding glass window to let air in

but

i saw the screen on outside was ripped open  in the middle on that side !!

A animal must have scurried down the metal part   outside and down tothe ground   near window and   then tried to get out!

No, i didn't open that winow!

I will go outside and look down...but i think what ever it was somehow climbed back up  and out!

ok..checked outside  and thank goodness i didn't see anything trapped...sigh of relief!

Wow!   That window doesn't open all the way it only slides back to other side !So glad window was closed and locked

No, it would not have been a person trying to get in  my basement...window opening is to small...

plus it has a"curved metal" piece to keep anything out and a small opening for water to drain into   as sump pump is on other side of concret basement wall.as house slopes down  hill toward back yard.

ok..need to check on my load of tops.

I'll try open small sliding window on east wall close to washer and dryer...to let fresh hot air in...lol/

@MyShadowLove

he was brought home saturday and wouldnt leave her side

cries when he didnt see her

she was held hostage

i visited tuesday and told her to leave - buy some groceries

she was gone 45 minutes or so

she fed him and left before he was finished eating

i didnt pay attention to him - didnt make eye contact

he ate - went to his cat tree bed - washed and fell asleep

told her to let him see her leave and come back so he can see she returns

she left another day - waited by the elevator - didnt hear him cry

so she is leaving him for longer periods of time

his foster family had hoomins and a pup pit bull and a cat and his fellow siblings

so he always had company.... he seems to be adjusting well

i had to wash my hands and face so if he licks - dont want him to ingest anything

so sweet - and he gave 😘 it wasnt rough like adult cats

@cowboy sam

I think it was your groundhog trying to get in your basement window.  He was trying to find a nice warm place for the coming winter.  He didn't like you wanting to get rid of him with that trap!🤣

@cowboy sam ...Yes, it definitely sounds like maybe some type of wildlife was trying to get into your basement and was scratching at the screen...With wildlife, there can be many surprises.

Let me share a story...I will do my best to keep it short which is hard for me to do at times....LOL

A few years ago, my husband and I were coming home one evening  from a get-together with friends...It was late...more like early morning...around 1:00 a.m....and as we were coming down our street,  we saw some type of animal resting in the middle of the road...It was further down to the house next door to us, so we were able to drive into our garage and we carefully walked out into our driveway to just get a better look on what type of animal it was and if it was okay...We were very careful and I told my husband not to get too close to it....Anyhow, the animal didn't move...It just lifted its head and looked at us and we determined that it was a Coyote so we went into our house and that was that.

The next morning, as soon as I woke, I went out to check the area and didn't see anything....Next thing I know, our phone rings and it was our next door neighbor...who was elderly and very concerned and she told me that there was a Coyote just laying down on her patio area...I told her that I would call Wildlife Services in our area and for her not to do anything...They showed up shortly after and it turned out that it was Rabid...They told our neighbor to clean her patio area with bleach which my husband and I took care of .

I felt so bad for the Coyote...being the animal lover that I am for all animals and wildlife...as they really suffer terribly with Rabies...We were told that animals with Rabies can behave in two different ways...either very docile or very agressive and, fortunately, this Coyote was docile.

So that's just one of my wildlife stories.

The End...lol

@Yahooey  ...Awww, how sweet....How old is he?...The younger they are, the easier it will be for them to adjust....That is an excellent strategy that you and your niece tried out, although I know that it must have been very hard for you not to pay attention to him...Still, he knew that you were there so that was a source of contentment for him...It will probably take a little while for him to be left alone when your niece goes to work but it sounds like he will do very well in time and get adjusted to his new surroundings, especially since he is so young.

What I would do for Shadow is leave a radio or TV on so that it wouldn't be totally silent for her while we were at work or out...She had two siblings and I was tempted to adopt all three, of course....However, Shadow behaved exactly as Baci and needed to be with me all of the time, so I was definitely concerned how everything would work out when we weren't home...She had her cat towers, plenty of toys and, as  mentioned, I left the radio or TV on for her also...You might want to suggest that to your Niece.

Please be sure to keep me updated on Baci...He is so precious and such a love! Heart

@Yahooey ...He sure looks quite healthy now and will thrive under the loving care of your  niece...She could take him to work with her and wear a baby carrier!   lol 🥰

Yes. that video is a good idea and it would be cute to take pictures of him as he grows.
