@MyShadowLove

knitting in the park

it is a free open event - always meeting in the same area with tables, chairs umbrellas - yarn and needles are free

some walk by and plop down to learn knitting

they teach you the knit stitch and the whole premise is to knit the garter stitch

every row is knit - there is NO purl

at the end of the 3 hrs - you return what you done back to the bin

since i try to go weekly - i try to get the one i already started

if i miss a week - and someone continues and it looks wonky

i will rip it out - and reknit it

sometimes there are holes or gaps or bunching since many are beginners

the experience ones bring their own projects - meet their friends  and gab

my knitting stays home - i cant look at a pattern - concentrate and not lose my spot

i only look for a pretty color - if boring or yuck

i will find a ball of yarn and begin a new scarf

i may bring it home - put it on my own needles and return their needles when i go

finiish the project and turn it in

i just cant continue to knit something if it is horrid

yes i know it is a learning event but i also know these scarves are being passed out

if i spend time on knitting - it should look presentable

yes - i'm a snob

i wont condone clown barf -

colors that hurt my eyeballs

then i will hang out with my fellow rambler lol

the silk shawl - there was a pattern and a kit that was sold

so i bought the whole kit and coboodle (sp) when i saw the pic below

that was a BD gift to myself

it was tedious and very slow going as i know this was a special item

it took forever to kniw but then we were ALL not going anywhere - my BD is in April - and i didnt finish until Sept 2020

and didn't wear it until winter of 2022

look how big it is and all the ways it could get snagged - sigh....

@Yahooey ...Wow, that is absolutely gorgeous!...I can see why you couldn't resist it and also why it took a while to complete...You know, I was thinking, you could take it and start from the front and wrap around your neck...then bring the ends around to the front and leave them loose and hanging...I think that would look gorgeous either with a coat or even with a top or dress that has an open or wide neck...Would the ends be too long if you did that?

@Yahooey...Well, that is very interesting...I've just never heard of it before...I would be a snob too!...lol...After all, when you take the time to  start a project and, of course, you take pride in what you are doing and the goal is to have it come out looking very nice...not sloppy...I wouldn't like it if someone came along and ruined something that I worked hard on...I would probably start a brawl in the" knitting in the park" group and  be kicked out of the group...😂

Your "Knitting in the Park" event sounds really neat!  And what a great opportunity to make new friends and learn a new skill.  👍

ya,know i have no talent in making things...Smiley Sad

Your pics and descriptions of each item you make or made...you put a lot of "love" in themHeart

i also am aware before i buy clothing,etc...".will i snag it with my poor  jagged finger nails""???

I have walked away from buying pretty  sweaters scarfs, hats  or cold weather items  because i might snag my nails on them !

or

will i think....

will it keep me warm enough???Old bones need to be kept warm!

Socks.?..i have seen from your picures how cute they are.Heart..i wear socks to bed  ..but sometimes wake up with only  right foot  sock on!Smiley LOL

But,definaitely wear  warmer socks this time of year  as i start wearing my clodd hopper heavier hiking shoes...toes need to be warm! Colors?...only have dark  onesSmiley LOL

Gloves...yes when walking  and have a few different styles  but all dark colors!

Hats...also needed on head while out to keep ears warm...friend a few years ago gave me a hat, scarf, glove set...in pretty  pale pinkish colors!

My hoodies, sweatshirts, sweaters need to be the "old  style warm."...not the new lighter weight type!

Same with jeans!

@Yahooey  Your items are wonderful! Knitting in the park...it sounds fun. You would be pulling my stitches out for sure. 😆

I am all thumbs and terrible at following instructions.

I think I am still too hyper for knitting, but I sure do appreciate the art.

I am in awe of your work girl! 🌞
