Saturday afternoon beach party - 

whole reason why my niece traveld - the firend is turning 50

she is a chef and cook - looks deceiving simple but so complex

char homemade bread with harissa - so good

sausage - dont know what kind

tomato - cucumber salds - dollops of cheese

grilled eggplant w/tahini

cake

Sunday morning

the 2 sisters drove us to Hama Hama - the name is featured in restaurant's menus

ie - we had pizza with hama hama clams etc

going to the source

it is a long 2 hr + drive each way - so appreciative of her friends

the sister that lives there always wanted to go... so fun trip

eating outdoors - there are oyster beds out there - no walking on them

some are multiples and not sharing - 1 dozen oysters each for the 3 of us that eat them

crab clusterw - bread dipped in the butter broth with clams - dessert was a miss - boo

her puppy 3 or 4 months old came with us - she was so good

the place there is dog friendly - came by with water and water bowl if u dont have and milk bone treats - she like playing with the oyster shells she finds on the ground

there were lots of - drop it - good girl - and then she finds another shell - REPEAT

since the dessert at Hama Hama was lacking

ice cream - we all scream for ice cream

we did see an ice cream stand - with lines - that would be nice - ice cream cone

but while eating - the driver said - this other place has really interesting flavors

so instead of the #1 Hoodsport Coffee with over a hundred reviews 

we set off toe #2 with 15 reviews - but 5 stars (maybe all family related)

it was off the beaten path - gravel roads and not clear marked signs

Olympic Mountain Ice Cream - no ice cream cones - QTS in so many yummy flavors - we each picked a quart and throw in another for good luck - they sold freezer bags - got 1 of those - so 2 hrs to hotel - and hope it doesnt melt

I picked Banana Cream Pie - real nanas and a ribbon of marshmallow and graham crackers

niece picked - spumoni - real pieces of pistachios and cherry

friend picked espresso flake - good cawfee flavor

sister picked non dairy - coconut almond fudge chunk (not for me)

bonus qt was blueberry lemon sorbet - also did not try

so we waited inpatiently for the ride back - we had plastic spoons but no vessel and we thoguht we were getting pints but got quarts - this is a family owned business and she was so sweet - we just went with us - google them - 

high quality items - so good but they sell to small places - and not in supermarkets bc they are small - so worth the trip - u ring the bell - so funny

like the boss my niece is - she went to the restaurant in our hotel and asked politely if we can have some bowls - and we got - and we ate at the common area

the driver took the ice cream home - cuz we dont have a freezer lol

pet friendly hotel - so doggie was with us -

Sunday dinner - just the 2 of us - Beast and Cleaver

butcher by day specializing in the whole animal and turned into small dining experience at night called The Peasant - maybe 15-20 diners

they put tables where the waiting area in store would be and a few counters by the window

tasting menu - everyone gets seated - all courses are served and everyone leaves

stuff is aged - roasted - spiced - each descrption is over the top 

i dont know half the stuff he is saying... Tallow Scone - what is tallowi I asked my niece - it was good - she said rendered form of beef fat - yeah, tallow sounds better

Monday - 1 last meal before heading to the airport for afternoon flight

birthday girl and driver (sister flew to NY to visiti parents in CT 6ish am flight)

as you know - i flew in and landed technically tues morning 12amish

and posted to all my preds friends at 2ish in the morning

it is now after 130pm - just had cawfee - no movement

have NOT checked the garden -

have NOT done laundry

got my delivery from chewy - yay

my niece worked very hard adjacent to the food scene which she clearly loves

her friends are in the food industry or food adjacent or just food enthusiasts

they scour the planet for food - when they travel 

reservations are made - if you cant get in - maybe a food chef friend can call

they all know or heard of - or read up on - what is the happening places to dine

they follow, post  and swoon over the presentation

i'm not like that - i dont travel like that

i sight see - i may have a decent meal or 2

this is next level - 

i'm grateful that she invited me to go with her (my first time)

have a peek in her world (island doesnt count from last year since that was a BD)

she said upfront - i'm inviting you as my guest

you dont have to pay for anything

i said - i will pay for the small stuff 

so i got the uber rides - the ice cream - donuts - stuff like that

breakfast was included with the hotel room

she picked up some items to purchase and i took out my cc as a thank you

she said NO - i said my pleasure

she has pancake as her mom

she is NOT like pancake

it is hard for her when you see other daughters and moms bonding

it is hurtful - but i want her to know i'm there for her

i tell her constantly how proud i am of her

how kind she is to me and her friends

if she wasnt kind - no friend would drive you blueberry picking and our day excursion to Hama Hama - the other friend wouldnt pack up the blueberries - freeze them and ship them - i have to pick them up when they arrive - gonna have to google recipes

in 2 weeks - she is taking my younger niece - i only have 2 nieces

where?  to see Taylor and there is only 1 Taylor in Mexico City

she wanted intl food so no Taylor in the states and Mexico was the closest

it is uber expensive tix like all the tix are and my young niece will pay what she can

bc that was said upfront - older niece will pu rest of tab - air hotel food

young one has always watched her kitteh when she traveled the world

the kitteh passed earlier this year

so this is her way of thanking her for all the years of kitteh sitting

- they are both beyond excited

i'm so happy for them - i hope they have the bestest time

i hope you dont think i was showing off -but I never ever ate like this

i just wanted to share - since i dont post anywhere else - instgram etc

i hardly took any pics - all food pics were air dropped to me daily

they were framed and color corrected - mine would have been too dark or too bright and out of focus

@Yahooey  I'm so glad you have a good relationship with her. And I'm positive she feels the same.    I don't think you are showing off at all! Thank you for sharing your trip with us. I love to live vicariously through you especially now my doc said no plane rides until I'm fixed. 

I flew first class once - I was flying back from Frankfurt to NJ and for some reason I got upgraded to first. Holy cow it was lovely and it was so hard to go back to coach for my next trip. 🤣

@Yahooey  There's no way you are coming across as showing off! You are proud of your niece and you are telling us and showing us the love you feel for one another.

Your photos are great and do not come across as bragging either. again, I feel the pride and love and sheer generosity you both share with each other.

You should be proud and glad you have a loving family. Bragging about family is never showing off!

I'm almost done with that laundry and so far so good 😊 

I will be going away next week myself. I don't know how to share pix. so if there is a quick explanation on how to, maybe someone can give me a few tips. I'm almost ashamed to admit and ask this.

What is batch processing? I'm always afraid it will take all my pictures on my computer and share everyone of them 😱!

Also sizing I never get that right when I email pix. 😝

@dooBdoo is very good at explaining techie stuff and life stuff too

i never post from phone - maybe you can - maybe you cant

i feel most comfortable posting from my mac laptop

i msg the photos to myself and open them on the laptop

i take screen shots since the Q wont let me upload heic - only jpegs are allowed - idk

once they are on your desktop - it is easy

you hit the 9th icon - it will say insert image if you hover ur curser and just find ur photo and upload - the Q upload will guide you
