news from the farm

raspberries are coming in

last week - i was picking 1 a day - then 2

niece came in for father's day and had a small cupful

today - i got 8 on my yoghurt - ripening is coming in for a month

critters now know they are there - saw remnants of an eaten one

i am leaving tomorrow for a long weekend with my 2 best buds

one i travel with many times to boston - the other is coming with her aunt

they have never visited boston - so this trip will be  touristy - which is fine

havent done touristy in 20 years

chores on the farm - spraying (yes i still have interloper aphids - figure fact of farm) -

staking -tidying up dead brush etc

string beans are coming in - 1/2 inch x 1/16 inch - itty bitty babies

i'm sure they will be huge when i get back

temps are still cooler so growth spurts that happen so quickly is still a coming

@SouthernBee SIL have tomatoes which is great - they are further south than me

can't wait to bite down on maters

what is everyone else doing?

Good Afternoon Y'all: So tired of rain and thunderstorms.

Sorry but I need to vent about something.

Dh received email from DD last night. She smelled smoke from the dryer she was using and called the fire department. They cleaned out the outside dryer vent and when they plugged the dryer in stated sparks flew. The firemen told her it was the dryer. I wasn't told of anything until this morning. I email DD and told her that she needed to tell her landlord and have the electrical wiring in the house checked. Her and Dh don't agree with me because of what the fireman said. Plus DD stated when she tried to turn the washer on  to do another load it didn't start. Stated she checked the water connection and the electric. The washer was a used one that she purchased from a co-worker two months ago.

DH stated he could give me $500 toward  purchase for new washer and dryer but I needed to purchase on my Lowe's or Home Depot card. I told him I needed to check my credit limits and research something on sale plus he needs to give me more money when the credit card bill shows the purchase.

I stressed one more time that landlord needs to be notified.

DD wanted delivery for tomorrow because she will be home.I told her might not be possible and need another delivery date. Also told daughter that the outside dryer vent needs to be cleaned out at least every three months. She said she has never done that but watched the fireman. She is 39 years old.

They were upset with me because with research and everything took me over 3 hours before purchase was made and not eligible for military discount. Plus the delivery window for tomorrow will be between 8a.m. and 8 p.m. Relieved Family was not injured with this and praying nothing will happen tomorrow when everything is connected. DD and DH will be told that my cards are maxed and anything else will be on them. Ok. Rant over.🤗❤

@SouthernBee ...Sorry to read about the problems that  your DD is now having with her washer and dryer...I would definitely call in an Electrician to have it checked out....In the meantime, she could also call an appliance repair store as they would be able to advise her also.

I tend to be very cautious when it comes to anything Electrical so I would definitely be in touch with our Electrician.

Did the Firefighters suggest this at all or did they just say that it was the Dryer that caused the problem?

@MyShadowLove : Thank you. All DD said was the fireman said it was the dryer. To me: that didn't sound like it was correct. If it was me: I would have called the landlord last night and requested them to call an electrician. She is upset because just notified of a $169 rent increase. She is worried about the kids school supplies and clothes. She needs to submit her resumes for another job but she said she is working on it.

@Yahooey ...What a fun getaway....a nice long weekend  in Boston with your BFFs...I know you will enjoy and, if by any chance, things do get a little out of hand, us Preds' Friends will be here to bail  you out!...LOL

You will definitely have to share everything with us when you get back.

My husband and I are still working on some house and outdoor projects, so we will be home this weekend....grilling some chicken and hamburgers....with a couple of drinks in between...lol...Weather is looking pretty good so far for the Northeast with possibly some light showers.

I will be thinking of you and your BFFs!...Enjoy! Heart Cat Very Happy
