@Yahooey ...Well, that is sure interesting!...I would have thought that your cooking skills came from growing up in a family of great cooks, especially watching your Mom but, instead, it sounds like it just turned out to be a natural interest and enjoyment for you and also your older niece...When is she having her cookie party and what kind of lasagna is she making?...I love vegetable lasagna and had a great recipe that included a mixture of vegetables and it was so yummy...I was looking for it the other day, but can't find it...I just organized my recipes a couple of months ago into a new recipe book or so I thought...LOL

My husband is taking care of the dinner today...We are roasting a chicken and will have stuffing, vegetables and cranberry sauce and I enjoy leftovers with most everything, so we are all set for the weekend.

Our Christmas is going to be quiet...We went to my family for Thanksgiving, so we are just staying home for Christmas and neighbor friends across the street will come over later on for dessert and coffee or tea...They have two adult children who live in other States but neither will be coming up for Christmas...Their Son and his family will come up for New Year's weekend instead.

So those are the plans here. 😊

@MyShadowLove

my parents were great cooks -

i never had an interesrt in learning their recipes or cooking in general

baking was a thing for me

and for years or decades - i didnt have a stand mixer

i had a hand mixer and did holiday cookies

do i want to spend that kind of money for something to be used once a year?

and storing it for an entire year?

then pancake - yes pancake lent me her KA mixer that foodie niece gave her bc she upgraded - and once i used that mixer - WOW - i wanted one

but couldnt find a color i loved until their 90th anniversary in 2009

glass bowl - it was so purdy - now the glass bowl is sooooo heavy

i waited until i absolutely lubs the color Candy Apple Red - it was different back then

now they have a lot of purdy  really saturated -doubled gloss colors

same with my first cast iron - I got a pumpkin

PIA to clean bc of the ridges but so purdy

i dont have sets upon sets of cookware - bowls etc

just each piece have to useful

so.... bc i had the mixer - i do bake more than once a year

is that a good or bad thing,,.. sigh .... i do lubs cookies

@Yahooey...So did you end up getting a newer model KA mixer with a lighter stainless steel bowl or do you still have the older model with the glass bowl?

Wow, that is one heck of a huge list of  cookies to make?...Are you saying that just you and your niece made all of those cookies for the party?  😲

@MyShadowLove : Totally agree but would appreciate one of each cookie  but consider me to be the quality control tester and because that would be a special job = not counting calories.😀

@SouthernBee ...LOL...That would be 17 cookies that you would have to "quality taste". 😄

Consider the possibility that I would be cured of my intense craving for cookies and no energy to bake any cookies.

Look what happened: you included " a math " answer in your post.🤔🤔🤔🤔

there are 30 guests - some are couples

each guest or couple must bring 4 dozen cookies of 1 type

that is why there aren't 30 cookie varieties

each cookie was revealed to her so there are NO repeats

i guess some couples bring 2 varieties

other thing u must bring is a bottle or 2 of wine

u must bring ur own containers if u want leftover lasagna or salad

she was cleaned out from the PRE thanksgiving - regulars brought their own containers

she provides pretty boxes for cookies to take home

my niece is making the pecan shortbread sandwich w/carmel filling (her signature)

my nephew (her brother) is making the macarons - the fancy colored ones (his signature) -

me is the florentienes - i guess sandwich cookies are in our blood lol

not my fav - but many people told me give me extras of those and omit others

gosh - most of te cookies have butter or shortbread (code for buttah) in the title

how many sticks of butter were used? too skeery to know....
