Loved darker crust...also can be fried in frying pan in hot grease.

@cowboy sam : I had to remove the source because of website link: My opinion was popular in the south before quoted date but the movie: Fried Green Tomatoes- put the increased interest and more recipes from the south was published and made more popular. I grew up eating as a child : fried green tomatoes and fried yellow squash. The squash was sliced and prepared like the green tomatoes.

Good Morning Everyone!...Just got in from giving everything a good watering, took a shower and now having some greek yogurt topped with a nut mixture and fresh blueberries....My husband is making blueberry pancakes, but I'm not much for pancakes...He uses a buttermilk pancake mix and they do come out light and fluffy, so I will just have one small one to please him.
@SouthernBee ...My goodness, you have so much to deal with right after the other...I'm sorry to read about DH's surgery...My husband had major rotator cuff surgery on his left shoulder approx. 10 years ago or so and he did fine...We don't have recliners, but we propped him up in bed with some pillows and that worked well for him...I slept in our spare room while he recuperated...I don't recall how long physical therapy was but it is very important that your DH do the exercises at home also for a successful recovery...I'm happy to read that you have support from friends to help you out....Your DH will be just fine and just be sure to take time for yourself also and, of course, we all will be here for you. 
Is your DH an identical or fraternal twin?
@Bri369 ...Wow, your daughter's trip to France is so exciting and such a great experience for her and her boyfriend...and a Wedding to top it all off!...How long will they be exploring France?...I'm sure you are anticipating their return and look forward to hearing everything about their fantastic time and I bet your daughter will bring something very special back to you!
@Mj12....That was quite a story about your DH's experience in the hospital in Germany...Good grief...having to hunt the Dr. down no less!...I would have been worried about him rushing with my surgery and just squeezing me in!...It sounds like your husband was in the service and stationed in Germany at the time?
@loveschocolate ...Thinking of you enjoying (?) your In-Laws' visit during this sweltering weekend...I got a kick out of your rushing to buy liquor, even though power was out after a storm...Hey, what's that saying..."Desperate times call for desperate measures."...lol...Sending you lots of (((((Hugs)))))!
@Yahooey ...Yep, there is another one of me running around out there!...lol...We are fraternal twins and don't even look like sisters...We used to tease our Mom that the hospital must have mixed us up with another set of twins!...lol...My features are from our mother's side of family and my twin's features are from our father's side of family...I was born at 11:44 p.m. and my twin followed thirteen minutes later at 11:57 p.m...just in time for us to share the same Birthday...We were even celebrities for a very short while, as our local newspaper wrote a small article about it.
Is that actually Zoe's paw squeezing in on your finger?...I havent been able to trim my Shadow's nails....total failure on my part...so I just take her over to the Vet's office and an assistant does a good job....They are only about ten minutes from our house...Shadow behaves much better for them.
What are you cooking for us on this, yet another, sweltering day?...I have a taste for a really good nutritious Clam Chowder....prefer clear broth (Rhode Island style)...Yummy!
@cowboy sam ...I hope you are staying cool and well hydrated in this sweltering weather...I'm planning on checking out the Summer sales online today...some good buys on tee shirts and Summer maxi skirts which I love...How is your son doing?
