Central NC, sleet and freezing rain ... turning into Black Ice, about which no one from elsewhere has a clue.

When we lived in Utah, I heard a local PBS program about NC, one of the worst winter driving areas because of Black Ice.  Went on to do a 30 min program about it.

Everyone be warm.  Generators on the mark...Get ready...

Yep, here too.

It's raining right now and should stay warm enough during the day to continue.  But tonight will be changing to snow.  2-5" in my area.

But it will warm up tomorrow right away with sun, and into the 50s by Monday so it shouldn't be a problem.  I'm not going anywhere anyway.🥶

We have had several doggies who have been doggy best friends with our friends dogs.  In one case the mention the dog’s name would sent our dog into a frenzy.  If we said “Sam!” Our dog headed for the car for a play date.

Not only have the two met, they are biological cousins.  Their mothers were full sisters, although not from the same litter.  They've known each other since puppyhood.

So of course they each know the other's name and scent.  All it takes is a mention of my name, my friend's name, or each other's name and they go crazy with anticipation.  

Unfortunately, since the other dog has developed a spinal problem, we don't want to take the chance that their tussling will result in a permanent injury to the other dog.  (My dog is bigger and heavier and could inflict major damage.)  So, we now have to watch them carefully when they're together and not let them play together.

DS and DIL’s late Rottie Bailey, as I said, was the biggest big baby you have ever met.  When my DD was single, she used to love to hike on a popular trail.  Being a young woman alone, she was a bit wary.  So she would make arrangements to pick up Bailey to bring with her.  I guess a few fellow hikers would note, “That’s a big Rottie.”  It was a family joke -  Bailey was a huge puff.  If he didn’t get what he wanted, he would cry.

Oh yes, I think in general Rottweilers have gotten a bad rap, like many other dog breeds.  Most, if raised properly, are the biggest babies you've ever met.  Mine would love to be a lap dog.

But the delivery people don't know that!😄  My girl looks very menacing and since I'm alone in the country I don't do anything to dispel that impression.  She has learned that most of the UPS drivers carry dog cookies with them, so as soon as the truck pulls up, she's right at their door waiting for her treat.  Which terrifies the new drivers.  The regulars know she's all bluster.

When I'm with her and someone asks if she will bite, I just say, "Not if I'm with her."  They don't need to know she wouldn't even if I wasn't with her!☺️

We will be in the teens by the end of the week.  That's what gets me: the up and downs.  The extreme weather sparks my migraines.  

I used to love the snow and cold weather.  But now I can do without it.  But then, I don't like it hot either.  Just no pleasing me!

Is it  asking too much to have temps around the mid-70s, no humdity, no bugs every day?  Asking for a friend...LOL

Not sure if we had rain last night for a bit after dark or not but when i looked out window about 8pm there was a dusting of snow covering my drive  and sidewalk.

I used my broom and swept off my sidewalk and steps,our city truck went by and cleared snow off the street  not sure if he salted it or not.

Its cloudy and gloomy looking outside but 24 degrees. mail lady should be driving by with mail stops on our street anytime now  and saturday's local paper delivered also car by noon or later.

I did get dressed in regular clothes,earrings,necklace,one Black Hills ring on right hand was my dh's that i has sized down for me..why i'm asking myself.??.as not going anywhere today.

ok..i will need to get mail if  she stops,if not wait until man throws my paper from his car and hopefully on my sidewalk.

My life is so simple..lol
