Good Morning-Precious Preds and Preds very special friends: I need to go back a couple of days and read everything. We were without internet service for a couple of days. Land line was also out but we have cell phones. Problems with the what ever it's called and can't remember just now.....senior moments occur more often.
Had upsetting experience at the eye doctor Tuesday. Called special friend to provide transportation since DH needed to stay home for the cable guy. My appointment was for the eye pressure test since testing for glaucoma. Well the lady that called my name in the waiting room, (friend and I ) noticed her extra long and colorful fingernails. She escorted me to the exam room and stated she would be doing the eye pressure test. My reflexes are difficult to control because of my cerebral palsy. The eye exam chair sits straight up - no leaning back. Lady said she needed to put drops in my eyes. So here comes the eye drops and extra long finger nails. She kept telling me to lean back and don't blink. I told her chair doesn't allow me to lean back. I pressed so hard trying to cooperate that my neck and shoulders went in spasms. She was frustrated with me but finally got the drops in. Then she came toward me with the probe . I could not stop blinking and she yelled- you must cooperate and not fight me. I started crying and told her about my CP. She yelled at me for crying and said that would wash the numbing drops out. She pulled out a different probe to try and test the left eye and this is the eye that I really can't control. She left the room saying she had to tell the doctor how bad - I was. The doctor came in and I was crying. He apologized and told me not to worry and he knew that Iwas doing the best I could. He asked for permission to try the test again. The first thing he did- removed the headrest from the chair that I was sitting in ! I told him that the lady didn't offer to do that. He said don't worry. Apparently or maybe someone in the hall had heard what was going . He apologized and stated he would need to apply more drops. He said he understood that I have trouble but he would help me get the drops in and he was successful but now my eyes were really burning. He tried to use the probe  again but I could not control my shaking. He decided to use the eye machine for a more extensive exam. After several different things he tried the blue light probe. I kept apologizing. He said he understood my special circumstances but really needed the eye pressure test. Then he told me that all things considered the test on my optic nerve showed they were in good condition and he would schedule another appointment in nine months if I promised to call if any changes. When I went back in the waiting room- my friend saw that I was upset. I told her we could talk in the car. Friend took me to Burger King so we could eat breakfast and get coffee and of course just decaf for me. Her first question was - why didn't you just start screaming at the lady or scream for help ?my reply: afraid she would attack me with them claws. Friend said- they were at least 4 inches long. Her next question: Do they not have an exam table somewhere for patient to lay flat while test being done? Good question. My eyes bother me yesterday, burning and itching. Doctors office said should be better today but call back again if necessary. Thank goodness- better.  I don't have to watch soap operas because I live in one. 🤷‍♀️. I hope no one ever has bad office visit like this. The eye center that I visited is the best one in our town and all the eye doctors are extremely qualified plus known throughout our state. 🤗❤️

I am SO annoyed on your behalf.  I read this earlier while we could not post,  and was fuming that you had this experience.

You are a kind, sweet, generous, thoughtful person, who is dealing bravely with a real physical issue, no one should be treated this way!  I really hope you will USPS a paper copy of this email to your physician marked “CONFIDENTIAL” to his attention.  Your experience is inexcusable, and your physician surely would want to know.

You may be speaking for many others.  Once I reported a very bad thing that happened to me at my doctors, I told him in person.  He did some checking with other patients, and afterward he called to personally thank me. He found that it had been going on for years, I was by no means the only one. He had no idea, and was so grateful someone spoke up to him.

The doggie is Robbie (Robert), he is the sweetest, kindest, boy, he sends you kisses, and would love to curl up with you to watch a good movie.

@SouthernBee

I read your post this morning, and I was so upset at how you were treated.

  1. I would speak to your doctor privately or write him a letter.  That is really unexcusable.  Every patient should be made to feel comfortable.

I'm so glad your mom is doing better.  That's a big relief for you and  your family.

Take me with you to the salon.  I'm going to have to do something soon.   My daughter's 2020 Graduation is in May and I have to look somewhat presentable.   That means real clothes too.
