I sent my daughter to the store the other day. I told her to get a head of butter lettuce. We put the groceries away, and I didn't think about the butter lettuce until last night when we were going to have BLT's.
I pulled the "butter lettuce" out of the fridge, and it felt very heavy. I realize it's cabbage. That doesn't work on BLT's.
I took off the outer layers and left it for the bunnies that visit my yard. Within 10 minutes, I had 3 bunnies feasting on cabbage. They were so cute.
@Bri369 ....I love this!...That is so sweet!...We have a bunch of bunnies running around our area and they were feasting on our Marigolds, so I just dug them up and placed them in our backyard area for them to enjoy...We just replaced our Marigolds with some Supertunias yesterday.
Now, after reading your post, when we make our trip to the supermarket next week, I'm going to pick up a head of cabbage just for them...I love nature!
@MyShadowLove Bunnies like to nibble on all sorts of things. I had no idea either.

I have bunnies, wood chucks, and ducks. I saw a couple of skunks, and that scared me. LOL
Cardinals are good luck!
how much wood does a woodchuck chuck?
what do they look like and how big are they
like a squirrel? chipmunk? beaver?
do we need a consult with @PamfromCT ?

(oh and there's another planter to the left not pictured with more of the same). I'm gonna need more potato recipes.
@Mj12 ...Wow, that is great!...I never thought that I could get so excited over potato plants!...LOL
That is a lovely planting area...When will you know that they are ready to dig up and prepare for eating?

@Yahooey They're huge. I was calling them a beaver, but then DH said they're wood chucks. Beavers have that big flat tail, I think. @PamfromCT will have to weigh in on that.
I don't know if they chuck wood. They run back and forth like lunatics. I find them quite amusing. Last year, they had babies. So cute. The babies would run behind the mama and the papa.

Hi @MyShadowLove
Well, per @Yahooey (who Googled because I was am too lazy) you know it's time to harvest the potatoes when the foliage/leaves all die off. Isn't that amazing? Such an easy way to tell.

@Mj12 and @Yahooey How will you know when they turn into fries and tots or hash brown? What's the sign?

@Bri369 @Skunks...oh that could be unpleasant. You have a very busy backyard. My son calls his a nature preserve.I think it is really kind of you to look after those bunnies.Do you feed the ducks and chucks?
We didn't know that cardinals are lucky but that is some good news for my son to hear.

@dex I usually just have bread and other veggies out there. They like to nibble on my flowers too. LOL
I should probably put water out there too for them.
