I like the RAISEC too @Moonchilde.

Are both of you in the psychology field?

I thought this would be a nice light change from the serous "heavy" topics but now you got me curious about these 3 kinds of tests.

I'd love to know what you can tell us about these.😊

Thanks!👍

Oh no @Pliqueajour.  I just know of these tests from grad study years ago.  Thank you for sharing this additional test with us.  Please be advised that an error occurs in this thread when opening posts and replying.

Thanks @itiswhatitis!

What kind of error?

That red box that pops up at the top with the sorry and unexpected error has occurred.

An Unexpected Error has occurred.

  • An Unexpected Error has occurred.

Hi, @itiswhatitis!   I believe what you're seeing is a browser error that shows up sometimes when we're replying to a thread.   It's not a problem with the thread itself but, rather, a compatibility issue between the site and the browser.    I see it quite often with Firefox but not with Chrome.

Nice thread, @Pliqueajour!   It's a very good test, a refreshing change from the faux "quizzes" we usually see on various sites, and thanks for the intro to that part of the website...  I've never looked at "Science of Us," but I like it!

OK, thanks.  I've seen it more than once and had no idea what was going on!  LOL.

It's "RIASEC", and appears to be a job/career-based assessment - at least that's how Wiki describes it.

https://www.careerkey.org/choose-a-career/holland-codes-riasec.html#.WIZLntA76hA

I had not heard of it before.

MBTI is not specifically job-based.

http://www.myersbriggs.org/my-mbti-personality-type/mbti-basics/

It's become the current fashion apparently, doing a quick google, to bash MBTI because it's been around the longest. However, I notice the bashers are often touting their own products, lol, and other main bash points can be easily refuted/explained. It's not perfect, but if you google Myers-Briggs on Amazon you'll come up with a boatload of books written about it, while other tests/theories, not so much.

Contrary to a common comment where people say they never get the same result twice, I get the same result (Type) every time I've taken a test over 25+ years. Some of the issue is because the "official" test is expensive to take, so there are multiple "similar" tests online, and not all of them are equally formatted, i.e. some are not accurate.

The curious can try these:

http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/jtypes2.asp

Most people get interested in MBTI, Enneagram, and similar tests because they are given the tess in college or at their place of employment.

You're welcome, @itiswhatitis and @Pliqueajour!   It's annoying as heck because it can make the page bounce while we're typing our response.   Just one of the intermittent glitches.

I thought this one was interesting because it lets you predict your results first and then see how the results match up to what you expected.

Thanks for the posts.

Yes @Moonchilde the RIASEC (I always spell it wrong) on personality traits which can aid in finding career choices.  This test is also used in colleges as well as other skills based testing.

Holland's theories used for RIASEC

Summary of Holland's theory:

  1. In our culture, most people are one of six personality types: Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, and Conventional. Some refer to these as Holland Codes or RIASEC.
  2. People of the same personality type working together create a work environment that fits their type. For example, when Artistic persons are together on a job, they create a work environment that rewards creative thinking and behavior -- an Artistic environment.
  3. There are six basic types of work environments: Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, Conventional. "Work" includes doing things to achieve a purpose, like paid and unpaid jobs, volunteering, sports, or hobbies.
  4. People search for environments where they can use their skills and abilities and express their values and attitudes. For example, Investigative types search for Investigative environments; Artistic types look for Artistic environments, and so forth.
  5. People who choose to work in an environment similar to their personality type are more likely to be successful and satisfied. For example, Artistic people are more likely to be successful and satisfied if they choose a job that has an Artistic environment, like choosing to be a dance teacher in a dancing school -- an environment "dominated" by Artistic type people where creative abilities and expression are highly valued
    1. How you act and feel at work depends to a large extent on your workplace (or school) environment. If you are working with people who have a personality type like yours, you will be able to do many of the things they can do, and you will feel most comfortable with them.
Next step: Match your personality to compatible environments

Choosing work or an education program that matches, or is similar to your personality, will most likely lead to success and satisfaction. This good match is called "congruent" (meaning compatible, in agreement or harmony).

So for example, imagine you score highest for the Realistic type on the Career Key Discovery assessment. On the table below, you see that your most compatible work environment is Realistic, a congruent match. It's best if you choose a Realistic job, or you might also choose Investigative or Conventional jobs.

It's still doing it to me.  But since I know it's tied to the browser I'll try to ignore it @dooBdoo.

I mean to add that I've never been given any of these tests in college or by an employer (or prospective employer), just took a few like the MMPI when administered by my therapists.

I'm going to try it.  If for no other reason to compare it to other tests I've taken @Pliqueajour.  I'm not looking for a job!  LOL.

It will continue until the site or the browser gets the notion to fix the incompatibility.    And even after they fix the problem on their end, sometimes we'll see it until we delete cookies/cache/website data and relaunch the browser.
