Have you ever been hypnotized?

I never have, nor do I know anyone that has, but some parents are using this ,to help their children, instead of medicating them

If it works , I think its a good idea

If you have undergone hypnosis ,did you feel any different afterward?

Re: Have you ever been hypnotized?

People have tried to hypnotize me, but it didn't work.    I figured they were "quacks"......................

Re: Have you ever been hypnotized?

I had a hypnotist that was doing it for people to stop smoking that came to our company and did it. It worked for several people. He tried to hypnotise me for two and a half hours and he couldn't do it. He told me that there are very few people in the world that have strong enough minds that you can't hypnotise them and that I was one of them. I was open minded about it but it just didn't work.

Re: Have you ever been hypnotized?

I went to a training session many years ago where a detective that investigated child cases was a trained hypnotist.

Some people cannot be hypnotized. You have to be open to the suggestion so it's easier to hypnotize children than adults. The detective would hypnotize children that were crime victims who had diffuculty recalling the incident or were too frightened in a lucid state.

When it's suggested "you will have no memory of (being hypnotized), they truly don't when "awaken" so it's safe for them to recall.

Yes, he asked those in the class who wanted to be hypnotized to try it. I did try and nope I'm not easily suggestible.

Re: Have you ever been hypnotized?

Yes twice~

Neither time (to stop smoking) worked.

The first time was in a large room with lots of people and when we left maybe for a split second I thought ok, but then the next feeling was, I can't wait to have a cigarette!

The second time, was individually and the whole time I was totally aware of him talking and didn't feel any kind of being hypnotized.

I think I heard somewhere that you have to be a certain kind of person, able to be influenced? Don't know if this is true or not, or is it that you have to believe in it? Or is it the ability of the hypnotist? I don't know. I wish it did work.

I definitely was very skeptical and didn't think it would work.

And each time of course, cost money. (down the drain for me!)

I was a hypnotism subject twice, once by a colleague who was an expert, and nothing.

I think that hypnosis is better for a child with behavior  problems, than drugging them. There are no side effects for them to live with

Re: Have you ever been hypnotized?

When my friend was studying hypnotism, he tried it on me.  It did not work for me, probably because I always want to be in control of my surroundings.  I do believe that there are those who are successful with it because they are more open to suggestion.

Re: Have you ever been hypnotized?

Yes, at a party, by a physician.  I was totally open to it but skeptical. No one was more surprised than I was to realize that I *was* hypnotized. I was awake and aware, watching my arm move without consciously moving it. I was aware that I was hypnotized while I was hypnotized. It was a kicky feeling.

At least I know I can be hypnotized (though will say that a little alcohol was involved that time, lol). I had wondered if I could be (which was why I agreed) in case I ever wanted to try it medically.

Re: Have you ever been hypnotized?

Yes. Once for weight loss. It was very successful. I lost 100 lbs and kept it off for about 5 years. After some rough life altering things, I did put on weight again (then lost it again!), but it was more about being open to suggestions and being ready to do what you are being hypnotized for. I believe you have to want what it is (stop smoking, loose weight etc.)
