I was puzzled too, and googled this:

SMYRNA, Del. - An officer is dead following a hostage situation at a correctional facility in Delaware. It all began yesterday when inmates took four correction workers hostage.

The situation was brought to an end early this morning after state police stormed the building.

This is the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center, the largest state prison in Delaware. Located about 15 miles north of Dover, it's where prison officials say inmates took four staff members and several fellow inmates hostage Wednesday morning.

The incident prompted a lockdown of all prisons across the state. Later in the afternoon, police say the inmates released one staffer and another Wednesday night, along with 46 inmates. But two hostages remained.

Around 5 a.m. Thursday, state police breached the building.

One hostage was alert and talking, the other was unresponsive. That corrections officer was later pronounced dead. How he died is not yet known.

I live about 15 miles from prison. The main road is off route 13.

I have lived here about 30 yrs and this is the first time I can recall anything like this has ever happened.

this past week one of the major newspapers has been running a story about prison food. There is a food that was specially mentioned (some kind of suet loaf). Not sure what this loaf contains but the picture of this loaf does not look appetizing. Then this happened.
