Beautiful child. Would take him home in a heartbeat. Can't read the story now as the link indicates that site has crashed.
Too bad the media can't focus more on stories like this instead of always drumming up more hatred with stories like this:

If a discussion is going to take a place, it has to be an open one with both sides listening and willing to change and they must be coming from a place of peace and calm. You can't bully someone into seeing your POV and even though it's our right to protest on black Friday, it's not going to help race relations.
If I don't know you, you best not get into my personal space and it has nothing to do with color. I think most people are like that. So, what is a cop supposed to think when it happens to them and by a known thief...we condemn them and call them murderers?

He is afraid. Maybe not in the very moment of that hug, but his tears and his desire to give hugs all spring from the daily fear he lives with and his desire for something better.
Those tears reflect his emotions in the moment of his fears being met with kindness. Kindness that he doesn't normally feel or see but desperately wishes for.

I just read in another thread that some think the intent behind this hug thread is a "ruse".
Im truly sorry some of you think that. I thought the story and the image are powerful. And from the posts in this thread I doubt I am the only one who thinks the same. It's a shame a few can't separate the message in this story from the messenger. There's a reason its gone viral and it isn't because of skepticism. People of all races are profoundly touched by the photo.
Included in the OP is a link of Devonte and a musician hugging. I dare anyone to watch the video and not be affected by the power of a simple act, a hug. But to some of you perhaps that's part of the ruse too.
How very sad.
