We often don’t get our mail until between 5 and 6 pm. Frustrating when you are waiting for business mail with checks that you’d like to deposit. Can’t change it though.

We live on a busy road but have ten acres so thankfully house is set up on a small hill away from the road. In the wintertime its dark when mail arrives. I prefer to walk down our long drive but with the extremely cold weather this year I’ve been driving down so I don’t fall. Seems silly to do that but I learned a lesson after falling 2 years ago!

For the moment we can't complain too much about USPS. We finally got a delivery lady who does a good job. No mail here in central NC for the last 2 days, but about 8 inches of snow down!

But adding insult, I just got email from usa.gov .... USPS announces new prices for 2018!

I don't live in a rural area - I live in an area of older custom homes across the lake from Seattle.  My mail box is across the street with three others and the mail person drive a little cart.  We also do not get our mail until late (often after dark in winter) but I guess someone has to be last.  If they have packages to deliver that will not fit in my medium sized mail box they get out of their cart, walk across the street and leave on my front porch.  I actually get my packages from QVC faster if they come by USPS rather than UPS.

@SeaMaiden Well it used to be the boonies now .... well..not so much.

It's a neighborhood.  We all live on 1 acre lots.  We're lucky because it's all dead end streets off of a two lane road that twists and turns and this area of Northern Va hasn't kept up with the roads so here are dozens and dozens of cars winding down the main road (off of my neighborhood) to and from work.

It's crazy!  It's two freaking lanes and sometimes there are as many as 40-50 cars in a line.  They are 'country' roads.

The other mail carrier had no trouble.  My friend just called and said she noticed it is a different carrier than the one we complained about.  He is as bad if not worse.

The one that retired was really good.  I think it's mainly that QVC sends stuff through the post office and they can't handle all of the packages (not the mail, the packages).  You should see these guy's trucks!  It's crazy!  It's not my fault and I'm complained to QVC but it doesn't matter.

When the UPS guy comes he puts them next to my garage door, but the Post Office carrier can't be bothered I guess so he lays them on the freaking road!  If someone drove by (from the main road) which they sometimes get confused and do, they could help themselves to my packages!  It's not the first time it's happened and I'm sure at this rate it will happen again.

I'll just have to stop ordering.  I order cat food from Chewy and it comes to my garage door.  I order from Amazon and it comes to my garage door.  Go figure!

With QVC the customer doesn't matter, all that matters is the bottom line, I guess.  Phew!

OK, it's been over an hour and I'm still on hold!  I'm sitting here in my family room with the clock on the wall watching TV so I know when I started and well...I don't have anything else to do.

@Annabellethecat66....I find the 800 number useless. I call my local post office and complain. Like yourself, our regular guy retired and the guy who delivers now leaves my packages in sheets of ice and snow. He just throws them. I complained to the post office after a snowstorm where most had melted and we had not gotten mail in ONE SOLID WEEK. I am thankful I never have done mail order for my meds.

So try your local office and complain. At least you won't have to wait on the phone for an hour. And good luck in getting this resolved.

We have a rural mail carrier who also delivers the packages. If the package does not fit in the mail box he or she has to drive up our lane and put the package on our porch. Usually this is not a problem, but they are not crazy about the extra time it takes. I mentioned on another thread that one time I was out for my walk and my mail carrier stopped at the side of the road and gave me 3 packages from QVC to take with me. I must say we usually get our mail at the same time each day and our UPS guys are great.

Sorry to go a tad off topic, but this amused me a bit.  Yesterday morning, my UPS guy and the mail guy arrived at about the same time.  The UPS guy delivered two small packages.  The USPS guy delivered a large, large box!  (Just seemed to me it would have been the other way around!  Wonder how they determine what gets consigned from UPS to USPS.). Hmm.

And I honestly thought I was the only person in the USA that had mail issues.

I live in a cul de sac Place but most times packages are delivered to Avenue on the left or Avenue on the right. At least it's the same house number.

The lady at UPS Store said go online and have all packages rerouted to the store address. Free of charge.

@Trinity11 I must not have made all of this bla bla clear.  I have (and so have my neighbors) gone to our local post office.  That's what I mean when I kept saying we went to our annex post office.  This is where they (the mail people) distribute the mail they are going to deliver.  This is where our mail comes from!!  It's called the annex.  The same people who deliver the mail come from here.  They have a boss over them.  We've all spoken to this boss and she tells us to contact the 800 number that she has continuously tried to do something (what, I don't know) about this problem!

Anyway, my phone registered the amount of time I was on this number and it was 1 hour and (I believe it said 42 or 40 some minutes) the phone is in the other room right now.

As always the person on the other end was courteous and so was I.  She gave me a number when referring to my complaint (which from previous contact I know means zip) but I wrote it down.

She said if I'm not contacted (she never said by whom, but I assume my annex (local, etc) post office to call again and let them know THEN they will contact the Better Business Bureau.  Sure!

Anyway, I know this does absolutely nothing.  However, one thing I do know (because I know some people who are being bought out of the post office, retired) most of these new people are not part of the union.  That usually means it's easier to replace them.

In most sectors of business if a person doesn't do their job, they are replaced.  There are some places where all they do is move you to another place.

Krimpette, UPS makes a profit while the USPS loses BILLIONS. Maybe the USPS should start arriving around midnight.

Since QVC seems bent on sending things through (for the most part) the US Post Office these days.....well.....

So, I've gone to the main post office where my mail is sorted and complained so many times, well, I've lost count.

All of my neighbors in my neighborhood and surrounding neighborhoods have complained....nothing.

I am now (once again) sitting on my land line phone waiting for the post office's 800 number to answer (live person).  The recording said it would be at least one (1) hour on hold.  What the hay!  I've nothing else to do......

Why am I even more upset than usual?  Well, my neighbors down the road just delivered to my door boxes and QVC bags (the oranges from QVC) my mail and so much stuff it took her (my friend two trips).

This stuff was not IN my mail box (although much of it would have fit in it) it was sitting on the ground/road that passes my house.  Often it's even in the newspaper box (the mail is in the newspaper box).  Interesting because I no longer get a paper, it's still up there.

I guess when the post office says one hour wait on that they are truthful!

I won't bore you with some of the stories I've heard from neighbors about their mail delivery.  This is all the same mail carrier.

Our mail carrier we've had for at least 20 years retired.  Since then it's been a nightmare.  We've been told they had to hire 3 people to do what he used to do.  Glen (the old carrier) said he doesn't understand the problem other than it's the people the post office hires.

Now I am sure some of you love your carriers and have no trouble.  But I've talked to others to have similar issues to myself and my neighbors.

We've filled out forms, we've called the 800 number (waited like I am doing once again) and nothing works.

Obviously, one problem is the US mail isn't capable of managing all of the boxes and packages QVC seems intent on using them for.

I KNOW it all boils down to QVC saving money (by using the US mail (contracts), but come on QVC, this is crazy.

I don't know if it will help but couldn't you help the customer out by looking into this problem with the deliveries of the US post office.  Maybe if he (this mail man) only had a few pieces of mail to deliver, he'd be capable of doing that.

I suspect not but it's worth a try.

@Annabellethecat66. Its not just QVC that using the USPS to exhaustion.  Virtually all the packages I'm receiving are delivered this way, even those from Amazon.  Straight UPS service seems to no longer be an option, which is a good thing because they've gone to pot.  I think we've got an unreported transport crisis in this country.  Only consumers are talking about it.
