Perhaps those customers who are fussing about slow service, etc., should apply for some of the vacant jobs, and that might speed up service!

I said that to a customer, once, who was ragging on me (I took orders in drive-thru and everything that went wrong was MY fault), lol! I got in a lot of trouble for it but at that point I didn't care.

I got my ass chewed by my boss but didn't lose my jobl

When I go out to eat, it's with the understanding that it will likely take longer and may not be as seamless as when they are fully staffed. Having appropriate expectations and putting things in perspective makes for a more pleasant experience for everyone.

I wish everyone had your attitude.

Sorry for the worker getting flack though.

You don't know the half of it. I sometimes think it would be a good idea for everyone to have a job, if only for a short time, at a fast-food place. Some of the people with these nice, idealistic ideas would be in for a rude surprise.

It works both ways, too. I had one older woman who came through regularly and one day she mentioned that her son was dying of AIDS. She was always so nice an always had a smile on her face, and was very nice to u even though her heart was breaing.

When I first went to work there, it was always emphasized to us to have a pleasant experience with customers because ours might be the only smile they got all day. It really stayed with me, and I learned a lot of other things working for McDonald's that were real eye-openers.
