"I've been working at a local Wendy's for $12 an hour 4 about a week now. during this time I've bout lost hope in humanity LOL. Im surprised by the blatant ignorance of the people that come through our drive-thru. Yes we may be taking a long time or closing early or only accepting mobile orders at this time or lobby may be closed, sorry. Y'all "consumers" be turning up and flexin hard on us Wendy's workers like it's our faults. that we're short-handed to the point where we cant even run the store. Does anyone watch the news anymore? Or is everyone just walking around with their heads up their butts with no knowledge of what's going on in the outside world. Most of our workers are out because they done caught covid and no one's applying for work. People wake up and pay attention to what's going on around you".

Nothing like that going on around here.

Our restaurants & bars were only closed a short time. It's business as usual around here.

Like nothing ever happened or is still happening.

Not many masks.

DH has worked during all of it.

Some really, really unfortunate responses.  But not surprising.

My hat is off to anyone willing to work with the public right now in the fast food or other service industry. Or even working at all rather than sitting at home collecting a check. It means some shred of work ethic is still among us and that is encouraging. Working retail years ago for a short while gave me a real lesson on how the public treats workers. It is quick to see how a person has been raised, IMHO, when you see or hear how they treat a fast food worker, a cashier at the grocery store, teachers, etc. The days of being taught good manners and respect of others seems to have disappeared. I know the COVID issue has stressed out many...but it didn't take away anyone's choice to treat others like they are less than human or treat them with respect and kindness. No matter who you are, you are not the only one effected by the pandemic.

While I am sure there are some who lose their temper, there are many more that do not.  I will have to say that some of these places really need to do a better job informing their customers about the current services and delays. Once sat for more than half an hour in a drive thru line with no way out.  Would not have stopped there had I known how long it would be.  A simple sign informing of long delays, limited menu items, etc help eliminate frustration.

That's a much different scenario than what we have in my area.

Many, many fast food restaurants are closed and some of our most established restaurants in our tourist town have had to close due to no workers.

Fast food includes Micky D's, Arbys, the list goes on and on.

Perhaps those customers who are fussing about slow service, etc., should apply for some of the vacant jobs, and that might speed up service!  Lots of open jobs right now, so go grab one of them!  I would be applying for one of them if I wasn't 74 years old with a broken arm right now!!

Pop here is just over 50,000. Not a larger City.

We have 4 McDonald's, Wendy's, Arby's, Chick-Fil-A, Boom-A-Rang, 4- Sonic, 5 Guys, Pizza, Taco, BBQ, Steak places to eat. Everyone going inside to eat. Not me. Did not do that before Covid so not doing it now. We rather cook & eat at home.

There are " help wanted" signs on almost every restaurant or business around here. I think a quick solution is to move most of the WM employees to those places who are desperate for workers since most WM employees I have seen are never actually working, but staring at their phone by a rack of clothes or sitting in the shoe dept giggling on their phone. Sometimes they are just yukking it up with each other in a big group. It seems WM has way more workers than it needs since it's usually one cashier and the rest are self-checkout stands. Many of those stocking shelves are actually vendors who work for a food company and not for WM.

@Nightowlz , they might be open but have you tried going anywhere to eat?

Yes our restaurants in our area were closed completely for a short period of time and then re-opened.  However, there is a shortage of workers just about everywhere.  It's been on our local news as well as national news.

It's not out of the ordinary to go to a restaurant here and there is a 30+ minute wait but only a couple of tables have customers.  That is because they only have 1 server working.

Fast food restaurants are either drive-thru only, dining room only and/or closing early due to staff shortages.  These same places are also closing early because they aren't getting their deliveries of food so they don't have anything to serve. We have restaurants and fast food places that are closed entire days because they don't have employees to cover shifts.

And while I sympathize with the person who wrote the post above, there also are plenty of people working at these places who have a terrible attitude, are not nice to customers but know that employers are desperate for work right now so this is the way it's going to be.

We have picked up food but we have not been inside.

They are dining inside. All the people DH works with talk about where they went to eat. I think they were only closed 2-3 months in the beginning. When they re-opened it was pick up only. They have been dining in for a long time. Online it says they opened back up May 1, 2020.

I receive emails with events still going on. Unbelievable.
