Re: Possible 2nd Ebola Case in NYC

What a shame. Once again, "no need to ban those coming from those countries". Even a doctor, that one would assume would err or the side of others safety, and what does he do? And "those that be" think voluntary quarantining oneself will work?

Sure it will, just like the news paper machines that used to sell on "the honor system". Lasted about 3 days in our city and the Newspaper gave up on the theory that "most people are honest".

Re: Possible 2nd Ebola Case in NYC

Preliminary results will be reported at any time now, probably within the hour. The test is typically 3 hours to do but I heard they have probably taken more time to re-run the test because of the fact that the child is so young. They want to be sure.

Meantime, 4 critically ill patients have been transferred from Bellevue ICU to NYU Langone Medical Center in order to "free up additional staff" to take care of Dr. Spencer.

What's a 5 year old doing/visiting over there, anyway? Why do people visit that area? I'm seriously and nicely asking, as I don't have a clue. p.s. Anyway, wishing him (and his family) well and a quick recovery.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

Re: Possible 2nd Ebola Case in NYC

This sounds hopeful (from the LA Times):

"During a Monday afternoon call with reporters, Dr. Tom Frieden, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, would not say whether the child had Ebola but did say the child's "pattern of illness ... is not the pattern of illness we would expect to see” in someone with the virus."

Oh, keep him in quarantine for the rest of his life anyway. Can't be too careful.

(Sarcasm, directed to the general craziness of these threads.)

Seriously, I hope he does not develop it, as it is esp. lethal in tiny children. So far so good, though.

Probably because they have family there.

Well, it's just too bad the rest of us aren't as centered and intelligent and all knowing and all seeing as some of you. (that's sarcasm also)
